Octavarium454 Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 I guess I could really care less, but I just finished installing the new fucking engine in my car and I couldn't find where this one wire went. Well, it turns out that this wire went to a knock sensor that someone had fucking busted off the threads inside the block. So now I'm forced to drill the thing out unless you guys can tell me I only need the one in the rear, but I'm assuming there are two for a reason and I'll be drilling that thing out tomorrow. Fuck. 1990lumina Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 You need to plug it in or you'll get an SES light for sure, among other problems. Quote

Octavarium454 Posted March 1, 2010 Author Report Posted March 1, 2010 Well just to see if it ran I left it unplugged and it did not pop any codes. However I got it in now and I must say, the L67 runs a lot better without a spun bearing and a burnt exhaust valve on cylinder #2 Quote
BXX Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Is the crack the 'burn'? The exhaust valve is the bigger one sweety Sorry, I had to haha Quote

Octavarium454 Posted March 2, 2010 Author Report Posted March 2, 2010 I was about to say, I went out and checked that head again and everything and yeah, it is the exhaust valve. My e-cred was almost destroyed there, close call . And am I the only one who calls that a "burnt" valve around here? Quote

Octavarium454 Posted March 3, 2010 Author Report Posted March 3, 2010 Yes it is cracked, bad, but that cracking is usually caused by overheating, therefor it is called a burnt valve. Quote
1990lumina Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 Intake valves are always the bigger one because you need a bigger area for air to be sucked in. Exhaust valve can be smaller because the exhaust is being pushed out by the piston - so it's going out one way or another. Quote

Andrew Posted March 3, 2010 Report Posted March 3, 2010 but I'm assuming there are two for a reason 1 on each bank? Quote
