Heza
ok...here's the deal...this only happens when taking a left turn. so, when i come into a left turn and put the pedal down to take off through the turn, my engine revs up and goes no where. i can hear it trying to catch the tranny, but it just doesn't. has this happened/or does happen to anyone else? 3100/4t60e is my combo 51k miles. GPRACER
I've had it happen with other fwd vehicles, could be as simple as low tranny fluid, check that first.
Bolt_Crank
yeah, check your tranny fluid, these trannies are very sensitive to that kinda thing, and make sure it's not burnt... also, you shouldn't really be accelerating that fast while turning with these POS trannies anyway if it's not the fluid, it could be some of your mounts too... Heza
tranny fluid is straight. i just changed my tranny fluid 5k miles ago. it's level is just fine. i just don't get it...maybe i'm not supposed to understand at all. Bolt_Crank
weird.... my tranny fluid ain't the best, but I can't afford to change that right now... and it doesn't slip... except when the fluid gets a little low... if it's not that, or your mounts (I'd heard that if your mounts, or even dogbones start going, it'll affect the tranny shifting) it might be your neutral switch.... or, your tranny might be starting to go out (hope not)
Heza
im pretty sure my tranny isn't going out. the neutral switch...how do i check up on that?? dogbones aren't in bad shape, but i was gonna get FFPs dogbones as soon as i finished all 1800 other projects i have going on my car right now. The Transmission Neutral Switch does not effect the tranny slipping or non-engaging. The TNS is used to make sure the car is out of gear when it's being started. If the TNS is fowling out, you'll either: a) not be able to get the RPM's over 3000 RPM's due to the ECM rev limiter... or... car will not start, non crank over since the ECM is recieving a signal that the car is in gear. I would change the fluid again; sounds like it's not liking what you have in there. - Erik
PaPaPooh
what type of fluid did you put in there?

Bolt_Crank
make sure it's Dexron III... or at least Dexron II (I don't think you can even get this anymore . the dipstick on my Z says Dexron II )
PaPaPooh
yes dextronIII mercon is compatable with both ford and gm i have heard that valvilene or havoline was recycles fluids not sure what one but i would make sure it is dextronIII/mercon that went in
Bolt_Crank
I've used Valvoline to top up my tranny.... and every once and a short while, I have to top it up again... it just disappears.... my car doesn't leak any fluids at all... mdelorie
I'm likely way off on this, but perhaps your CV joints are hooped? That happened in my tempo, and I thought it was my transmission. There was also a clicking sound accompanied by it.

Does this happen all the time? or sparatic? I know what you are talking about. my 4t60e likes to slip like that, only does it when im in motion going around 25-35mph and is very random at WOT only but im ususally going striat. New dogbone helped out a bunch but its still there. im almost positive that its b/c of the motor's sweetspot, and that it redlines before the trany gets into gear so bouncing off the redline the motor shuts off. When in the off position the transmission goes back into OD mod and takes the a higher gear like 2nd or 3rd then bam still holding WOT more fuel make the RPM jump back to redline. It does this for a while bouncing off the readline until the tranny catches, or you let off. IN the 3.4 auto keep hold of the streering wheel b/c both tires will Bark when it catches at redline and take off like a bat out of hell. Im only guessing but thats what i think is happening in my trany.. b/c it only happens between 25-35mph ruffly 4k+rpms and fuel shutoff is at 6500rpm or less in drive so it wouldnt supprise me if this was the case. goodluck hope nothing goes bad(knock on wood)
