digitaloutsider
Those two things do not go together. Additionally there are some pretty good writeups on shift kits on the forum. Personally, its not worth your time.
RobertISaar
Personally, its not worth your time. X2... for a stock motor anyway. start making more power and then it would be a good thing to help your clutches last longer.
WhatTheFehl
I've never understood why anyone would essentially ruin a perfectly good automatic transmission by putting a shift kit in it. If you want more noticable shifts, put a manual tranny in. The S-10 we had at work had a shift kit in the automatic transmission... all it did was piss me off and chirp the tires when it went into second. It actually helps preserve it
WhatTheFehl
Yes but isn't it very difficult to "undo" a shift kit?
Night Fury
I wouldn't see why it would...
slick
Generally just as easy as it was to install it.
xtremerevolution
I'd leave it alone. You probably won't gain much at all, and it will get annoying after a while. Not to mention it will possibly wear out your engine mounts quicker.
digitaloutsider
Yes but isn't it very difficult to "undo" a shift kit? Our shift kits are nothing more than shims put into the accumulator to keep the springs from deadening the pressure on the shifts. They go in as easily as they come out. It's still pointless. I've read somewhere before about drilling holes in the valve body and some other shit to put in a "shift kit" ... to me that seems like ruining the transmission. I didn't like the one in the S10. I think it contributed to the pickup's dislike of going uphill...
digitaloutsider
Ours are nowhere near that involved.
alec_b
If your shifts are too soft, invest $25 bucks in an adjustable pressure modulator. Available at any auto parts store. That will allow you to modify your shift pressure (to a point). It's not as good as a true shift kit, but it will help put a little "perk" back in your shifts. I put one in my bonneville, and at WOT it greatly helped the shifts. Around town it was slightly firmer but not much. It's one of the easiest things on the car to change, the whole process should take you about a half hour, plus adjustment.
White93z34
I'm 90% sure my Bonneville has a mild shift kit put in from when I had the transmission rebuilt, it helps improve clutch life as it quickens up the shifts and reduces time that the clutches drag. It is not harsh at all.

Keep it stock. The bottom one is my CS. Line pressure isnt controlled by the PCM (vacuum modulated) however shift time does make a difference and something I dont have shown is Force Motor Current which ive played with very carefully to firm the shifts up. Fuck up the FMC map and your likely to need a transmission soon. As for the 4th apply, are you talking about the top pic? Thats our 06 Impala which has stock shifts and everything shown
