putting factory fans on toggle switch help

is there a way to wire up a toggle switch to the factory fans and still have them function like normal and not have the check engine like come on at the same time? currently i have a switch wired up to one of the relays for the fans ( i cant remember which one) but it makes the check engine like come on (even if i dont turn the switch on)

that is very confusing...so the only thing that is currently in my car in that picture is the relay center, pcm, and the green & blue wires? and then everything else in the picture is what i have to wire in?

i think that may be how i have it wired up now and it turns the check engine light on. and i think it doesnt on those cavi's cuz they are OBD1

Straight from the text above the image: "You will leave the stock relays in the relay center. There is actually no need to even open up the cover. This modification will require 3 additional relays shown below that can be purchased at almost any automotive parts store. They are most commonly used to control auxiliary wiring."
