douellette Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 i have a 1997 3100 engine. the top dog bone mount things move when i rock the engine back and forth. (the square bushing in the mount slides foward and back. is that normal or do i need to replace the mounts? and also are there any recommendations for budget lower mounts and the upper ones? thanks. Crazy K Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 that is normal. BUT..... flip them 90 degrees and you have a quick mod! Quote
douellette Posted February 7, 2010 Author Report Posted February 7, 2010 that is normal. BUT..... flip them 90 degrees and you have a quick mod! would that make my car vibrate even more than it does? i put a poly upper bushing on my old 2.2 4 cyl engine and it vibrated the hell out of me. Quote

88red4cyl Posted February 7, 2010 Report Posted February 7, 2010 Auto Zone sells a solid rubber lower mount... IIRC, its actually cheaper than the standard hydraulic filled one... Plus you get the added benefit of having a mount that will far outlast the regular one... When I bought mine, they had to special order it and tried to talk me out of it by saying that it will make the car vibrate really badly, but there was absolutely no added vibration from doing that upgrade.. CSI_MuNkY Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 97s had different torque struts IIRC, that's why your confused, yours can't be flipped Jamie Quote
Penglii Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 97s had different torque struts IIRC, that's why your confused, yours can't be flipped Jamie Sorry for not being clear, I am aware mine are different... I just replaced 'em the other day My confusion is because I cannot envision how a 90* rotation of the 97 style mounts would improve their function... Quote

Penglii Posted April 13, 2010 Report Posted April 13, 2010 I think he meant 180 degrees! That would make more sense Quote
