GOT2B GM
The bumper goes into the bottom of the mount. The plastic washer holds the boot onto the mount. The mount with bumper and boot just slides onto the shaft and the strut nut holds it in place. Install the mount and strut assembly as one unit into the car. Crazy K
I do not like monroe's boot. I've had two utterly fail and get ripped to shreds, possibly due to snow. if you can salvage your original boots from you car, I would use them instead. Are the jounce bumpers rubber? the jounce bumpers pop into the bottom of the mount.
White93z34
and I've been running them for 50k+ on my cars still look like new.
douellette
the bumper is rubber and one of the original covers is broken, it got separated from the mount i think?
Crazy K
the bumper is rubber and one of the original covers is broken, it got separated from the mount i think? it can separate from the mount and be ok. that means the original jounce bumper tore. if you can get it off I prefer the OEM style boots. To install, you stick the new jounce bumper through the boot and jamb it into the bottom of the mount with teh top of the boot in between. other things you should do: before you start you should pre-soak the bolts with PB Blaster holding the mount to the body. you can reach them though the trunk behind the carpeting. even then I still break them sometimes. I coat the contact area between the top of the strut and mount with dielectic grease. rust is the enemy here. I have also added a large washer between the top of the mount and the nut with a large washer. this can prevent pull through if mount ever fails. 50 cents of insurance, ya know. slick
Huh, I didn't any rust penetrant when I just did Rachels rear struts and mounts this last weekend. An impact gun took quick work of it.
