i have a dome light i want to see if it works how would i test that. since its just 2 wires could i just test it off my battery

Yep, battery testing should work just fine.

Yep.

 

You can also test this with an old computer power supply if you have one lying around. Those also output 12V via the 4-pin molex connector. I've used a computer power supply to charge a car battery before. Fun stuff.

oops just went out and looked at it i was mistaken it has 5 wires. i havent looked at it in 3 months LOL does anyone know what ones i test it has 2 black 2 white 1 orange

my guess would be that orange is a constant 12v supply for using the switch on the domelight.

 

The blacks are grounds and one white is a 12V feed from the door pins, the other from the headlight/dome switch

ground the black wires and touch the whites to positive, it should come on

it works now what does one of these go for?
