oz37k Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Does anyone know if the LQ1 3.4 DOHC engine that came in 95-97 MC Z34's is available thru GM. Quote
RobertISaar Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 you mean 96-97? X2. i have seen 0 mile LQ1s on ebay before, but i wouldn't count on them being availible through GM, and definitely not for any reasonable cost. Quote
oz37k Posted January 19, 2010 Author Report Posted January 19, 2010 you mean 96-97? No, I mean 95-97 cause I have a 95 MC Z34. Quote
RobertISaar Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 it would be best to find a 94-95 LQ1 in that case, since the 96-97 uses different EGR, coolant sensors, TB, intakes, and a few other things... Quote
Nick07 Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 You need a 95 motor or older cuz your OBDI I believe. I'd try to find a motor from a 95 Monte if I were you, then you can literally just put the motor in and be done. Other wise with a newer motor you'd have to convert to OBDII and mess with wiring and the computer and all that BS. If your interested I have a 96 Monte Z you can pick up for $1200, just throwin that out there Quote
GOT2B GM Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 What you need for a direct replacement is a 94-95 motor. OBD 1.5 Quote
RobertISaar Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 a 94-95 is a direct replacement, but the engine management has nothing to do with it... my 3100 is living proof. Quote
GOT2B GM Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 91-93 will not have the extra cam sensor, a different alternator, different PCV routing, different crankshaft balancer, is speed density vs MAF etc etc Quote
GOT2B GM Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 you may be able to use a 96-97 bottom end and install your 94-95 top end on it Quote
Octavarium454 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 you may be able to use a 96-97 bottom end and install your 94-95 top end on it Lol me and my step-dad just put a motor in a 95 GP and ended up using a 2001 3100 bottom end. Quote
jake91 Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 there is a guy over on 60*v6 that has one compleatly rebuilt for 400 Quote
RobertISaar Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 i think it was in reference to a 95 3100 with 01 3100 bottom.... Quote
GOT2B GM Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 which has what to do with the OP Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 which has what to do with the OP Notta! and to answer the original question, NO GM does not carry ANY LQ1s anymore... the engine plant where they were built, in St Catherines Ontario has not produced them in a long long time Jamie Quote
