kwik-6 Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 I've got a lot of bounce and so I need to replace suspension components on my 94 Cutlass convertible. What experiences do folks have on this? Any brands to avoid? How much should I replace? Quote
Andrew Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 alot of bounce means that the struts are worn. The 2 most popular here are KYB and Monroe. If the mounts are original, i'd replace those too. and there are tons of threads on how to replace them. Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Id go with KYB. Ive had so many Monroe's blowout on me. Quote
Jonpro03 Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 I'd like to see a write up on coilover swap Quote
19Cutlass94 Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 Coilover swap is basically just like replacing struts... theres nothing to it. Except for removin the monoleaf. Quote

Right; many people here have done it and there should be a thread about it here. I'd like to see a write up on coilover swap Not that birchmount leaf springs are bad. They're just as good as coilovers, but simpler to install and you don't void the warranty on your shocks. I've only had one instance where I wanted to adjust the ride height. Quote

I suppose you're right. I'm partial to leaf springs for some reason. Ah yes, you don't need an alignment done if you're putting in a lowered leaf spring. I think the contents of a writeup containing parts you'd need, where to find them, and suggested spring rates would be helpful. Quote
