Remote start.

Hey guys,

 

I decided to install a remote start in the Gand Prix for the wife. I've done many installs on more complicated vehicles but on the GP it will crank but not fire up, anyone have any experience doin one of these and if so any clues what may be wrong? Tach signal maybe?

What brand? Did you set it up for crank or voltage sensing? Have you learned tach?

it's a Prostart from Canadian Tire, they are made by autostart.

 

I learned the tach, don't remember the sensing settings. books at work, I'll have to look tomorrow.

Starts fine with the key? Have you tried remote starting it with the key in the ignition? And then again while the key is turned to the ON position (but not running)?

haven't tried any of that, but yeah car starts and runs fine with the key, I just tucked all the wiring up under the dash till X-mas just want to get it working prior to then.

I'm not too awful familiar with the Autostart stuff, however looking over the installation manual, the basics are the same.

 

Check the hood pin switch (if you used it, however the hood pins are more troublesome then what they are worth), check and verify that you have the proper tach, and that it is programmed.

What year is is? Did you bypass the vats chip in the key if it has one?

sounds like you need to install a security bypass module. Check to see when you hit the remote start button if the security light on the dash flashes. If it does it is the problem.
