turkey_club
I want to get a new muffler for the Regal mainly because my exhaust tips are all dull and slightly rusty and all-around ugly. I figured that I might-as-well just get a whole new muffler since mine is 13 years old anyway and I figure it might marginally improve my MPG and give the car some more sound. So what I want to know is... 1. What are some good mufflers for this purpose (subtle sound and myabe more mpg 2. Are there any mufflers that will fit the 2nd Gen GS exhaust's diameter 3. What are some good [chrome] exhaust tip suggestions (going for the BMW e36 look) 4. Why Thanks Aaron

RobertISaar
i mean that even most 3800 fans will admit it's hard to make a 3800 sound better than with the stock mufflers...

Yea its a 97 GS Im not going for amazing at the moment...just a lil somethin...but still, what do you mean by that 3800's are very difficult to make sound good. They just don't sound too great as engines when you put louder mufflers on them. I've heard very few 3800's that actually sound great. Getting it to sound louder is a cakewalk, but getting it to sound good is a different story.

GOT2B GM
Get a GP oem dual exhaust setup and some GSX cutouts for the bumper
5speedz34
Get a GP oem dual exhaust setup and some GSX cutouts for the bumper x2. I've been to a few Michigan Grand Prix Club dyno days and let me tell you. I've heard 3800's with stock exhaust and I've heard 3800's with nothing but a downpipe, they all sound like ass. From what I've been told factory flows pretty good aside from the u-bend and the cat.
supertrick_05
I had a 2000 Regal GSE and I loved how my exhaust sounded! It wasn't too loud, but wasn't quiet either. It is really hard to make them sound good, but I believe I achieved that. I wish I could have saved my old sound file of it. Anyways, here's what I had... Random Technology downpipe w/cat: http://www.pfyc.com/pc/WB5002/RGEXH/High+Flow+Catalytic+Converter+-+3.8L+V6+Engines.html some "no-name" resonator XLerator "High Flow" performance muffler: http://www.apexhaust.com/products_performance.asp Oh man, it's been one of the few L67-powered cars that I've heard that sounded good.
