swap a 92 LQ1 for a 96 LQ1?

I'm going to be looking at a 1992 Grand Prix tomorrow with a 3.4 and the 284 5-speed transmission. The car has high miles, so if the engine decides to go out on it, could it be replaced by the LQ1 from a '96 car? I heard they had better flowing intake systems and they switched to a different fuel injection, and a few other little things. Could the '96 engine bolt up and plug-n-play in the '92 car with the 5-speed?

Turbo a LQ1 and eat L67's for breakfast.

WIN.

a 96 engine in a 92 car: electrically, pretty easy, the EGR and possibly the coolant temp sensor will be a minor setback.

No way...I'd rather have a great engine to start with, supercharged at that, than to put money into turbo'ing one of the worst-feared engines that GM has ever made.

Its the worst feared engine that GM has ever made and you have 2 of them... Hmmm

awesome. pure, 100%, liquid awesome.

failure to perform required, scheduled maintnence accounts for MOST problems with the LQ1...

Stop, No and don't. I will not let this thread devolve into yet another thread where everyone has to wank about how one engine is better then the other. Keep it on topic, please.
