yeah, what you describe sounds characteristic of normal early ABS brakes (power master 3).

We have pictures for 11 Cutlass Convertibles on record on one of our computers. My car makes 12 and I located another 3 more cars from our website @ archive.org for a total of 14. We also have a 1994 parts car barely running (triple black) that I can take pictures of. I am still searching the archive for more stuff. I also have hard copy pics that I can scan of 5 Cutlass convertibles in a row all with their tops down.

Here is another one I had that I found pics of. Interesting to note is the simple radio and the lack of digital climate control. These are 3 pics out of 24.

I would agree if it was a DOHC car, but with the 3.1, cars were generally less optioned. Still a little out of the norm though.

This 3.1 was one of only 2 that we had that came with single exhaust. The other one was a triple white 94 3.1. That one had digital climate control and the better cassette radio. Notice this blue one doesn't have steering wheel radio controls either.
