AL
Yah, but why only 294? Thats rarer than the manual tranny... Do you want my vin to check out a manual grand prix?
ManicMechanic
Yah, but why only 294? Thats rarer than the manual tranny... Do you want my vin to check out a manual grand prix? Because remember some 5 speeds went in to 4 doors (STE for sure, but maybe an SE or 2), some into BYP cars and some into B4U cars. That accounts for the differences. 5speedz34
Well....the difference should only be 4dr cars right? I thought it searches all 2drs?
ManicMechanic
Well....the difference should only be 4dr cars right? I thought it searches all 2drs? I've learned that it will search out particular cars with that particular RPO in some cases. Example: 1991 CS SL 4 door LQ1 LQ1 ENGINE,GAS,3.4L(3.4X),MFI,OHC,V6,HO,DOHC 3.4X(LQ1) 3,135 1991 CS SL 2 door LQ1 LQ1 ENGINE,GAS,3.4L(3.4X),MFI,OHC,V6,HO,DOHC 3.4X(LQ1) 2,866 So total 4 door production with the LQ1 including S, SL & International was 3135. But S, SL and Internationals though they have the FE3 suspension will have different suspension coding due to weight differences, slight as they may be. If that makes sense, I'm up waaaayyyy past my bedtime and need to kick Rob for finding this site.

That's not really that rare, there was probably only 4,000 or less Suburbans imported into Canada (since kph and other Canadian things are part of the option groupings). The rarity of your vehicle is based on an exact match of your options for your year and model. The highlighted red is the interesting RPO, here's an explanation: Regular Production Options (RPO) Codes on the Service Parts ID Label (under the left rear hatch cover or on the Glove Box Door) may indicate a PILOT and/or PROTOTYPE car. Many of these early production cars were sold later to dealers through Auctions after there test periods were over and purchased by retail buyers as used or slightly used cars. You may have an early Pilot/Prototype if your VIN Number is below: RPO WDO: WDO is the PROCESSING OPTION CODE for a new car BUILT FOR THE NEXT MODEL YEAR FOR TESTING and EVALUATION purposes. A WDO car is built during the current model year run of production car's, but is a FUTURE Model Year Vehicle. This Option Code is known at the factory as a "CONTAINMENT VEHICLE" CODE. Which is the "IDENTIFICATION" of the START OF A NEW PLATFORM (i.e. NEW MODEL YEAR car). RPO WD1: WD1 is the IDENTIFICATION CODE FOR A FACTORY PILOT VEHICLE, for the Next Model Year. Example: If the factory was building 2002's and a "RPO WDO" & "RPO WD1" was going to be built, it would be a 2003 Model and would have a 2003 VIN Plate attached to it. Of course this would be a EARLY MODEL 2003 car, with a built date in the middle of the 1999 Production time line, and a JOB# for the current 2003 Model Production.
