manual vs. automatic

well after the problems I'm starting to see with my auto in the STE, I'm starting to lean the manual. I can pick one up from a junkyard for 49.99 I pull it. so maybe I'll do that. hopefully they have a v6 manual out there then I don't have to make a adapter plate. drifting sounds fun

WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU JUST FIND A STE 6000 WITH AWD, AND USE THAT? HELL OF A LOT EASIER AND IT MIGHT ACTUALLY WORK.

i had thought about that once before, but that AWD STE 6000 tranny sucks. it doesn't even have overdrive. probably would work alot easier than what Marcus is planninng on tho, AND it would be AWD not just RWD. there is one in the local salvage yard if you want parts. the salvage yard may be able to ship you the trans and everything else needed. call 307-682-9082 (Nanneman Brothers Salvage) if you're interested. they are also specialize in tranny rebuilds fwiw - not sure how good they are tho. personally i'd 'stick' with a manual, and find either an F or G-body if you want RWD. then stick an intercooled Turbo Buick 3.8 engine into it, along with a T56 6-speed swap or a beefed up 2004R automatic.

Good idea, Joshua. I wonder, tho...could you swap out the auto for the getrag to the transfer case, or is it a sealed unit? I have one here, locally in Orlando, and have thought of utilizing it on one of my cars, preferably a turbo(i have an extra ste turbo motor in storage)...maybe in a lumina euro? beretta? Z24?hmmmmm...getting evil thoughts. Might build something to give a typhoon a run for it's money.
