ZeeQuick Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Alright, since I'm kind of new to this whole forced induction thing. My brother has a 99 Regal GS with about half as many miles on it as my GSE. I noticed when driving his car today that his supercharger whine is more pronounced than my car's. He has a K&N intake on the car, but that's it. Are some of these superchargers just nosier than others? My boost guage reads normal....think I've had it up to about 9lbs. His car does seem to pull a bit harder, which I would expect with the difference in mileage. Quote
jeremy Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 do you have an intake on yours? just that will give you a noticeable sound difference Quote
ZeeQuick Posted November 23, 2009 Author Report Posted November 23, 2009 Nah, no intake. Does an aftermarket intake really make the superchager whine louder? Quote
Twenty Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Aftermarket intake = louder engine. Quote
jeremy Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Nah, no intake. Does an aftermarket intake really make the superchager whine louder? absolutely....you can barely hear any whine at all with the stock airbox Quote
ZeeQuick Posted November 23, 2009 Author Report Posted November 23, 2009 Huh, I never would have guessed. I know with the stock airbox out you get that cool....ummm...sucking air noise, but I didn't think it would have any effect on the supercharger whine. Quote
Euro Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 Sure does!! Just wait until you drop a pulley size Quote
Addicted to eaton Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 intake is a night and day difference. it was almost unreal! Quote
tunerlover3 Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 The build the intakes to make them as quiet as possible. Most normal people dont wanna here the whine. But we are not normal people Quote

My buddy put a Wizaird intake on his car and it was a complete difference in super charger whine! Quote
