Radnsmash Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 At the very least...they are leaking externally and not causing serious engine damage like the LIMG's on the 3x00's. Thats whats happening to mine! Quote
1990lumina Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 cracked? are they iron heads or what? aluminum shouldn't crack under almost any circumstance... nope, aluminum. And this has happened LOTS! We've done 20+ cars last year. Quote
Night Fury Posted November 24, 2009 Author Report Posted November 24, 2009 Ours had 60K and the headgasket is leaking.. I saw one at work today with 39K and it was leaking Lets go back to SBCs please... No thanks! Quote
Nick1234 Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 you wouldn't think it would be a tall order for GM to design something that doesn't leak or need gaskets on a regular basis. The escort we own, 170k, never needed one gasket. Whats so hard? Quote
Addicted to eaton Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 they don't make money if they make stuff right! Quote
RobertISaar Posted November 24, 2009 Report Posted November 24, 2009 ^ TRUTH! on the 95, the only thing even close to internal, or a gasket, that's needed replaced was a water pump, and that was back in like 1997/8. since then, no engine issues at all... Quote
88red4cyl Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Buck, assuming you've gotten the parts for this, how much did the gasket set and bolts run you? Quote
Night Fury Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 Gasket set, includes ALL gaskets(Headgaskets, valve cover, LIMG, UIMG) $180, I believe. I have not got bolts yet... Quote

RobertISaar Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 on rockauto, they are 15.33.... i really hope that isn't each Quote
88red4cyl Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 on rockauto, they are 15.33.... i really hope that isn't each They dealer told me 16 of them were $8, 12 of them were $4, and the other 4 were like $6... I can't see how it can have 32 headbolts though... The parts guy said I'd need all 32... I've never heard of a car needing that many headbolts though.. Quote
Night Fury Posted December 19, 2009 Author Report Posted December 19, 2009 That's the only thing stopping me at this point is the head bolts. I'll go back Monday and inquire Quote
