kuntzie
In my van but the same as a w- body.. The kickdown doesn't work and it doesn't seem to go into OD, car shift perfect and shows no other issues. No codes and no noticeable issues or slip, trans is new with about 10k -15k miles on it, there is NO tach so I think the prev. Owner did not realize the OD wasn't working and I don't think he was to concerned about passing on the hwy ect. Wiring issue? Something else? Any suggestions? Also the fluid is not red, it's more of a light pink, weird

kuntzie
definitly not.. when not accelerating and slowing down it downshifts fine.. like im going 70mph... slow down and accelerate again from like 30mph lets say, it will be back in 2nd gear. tcc would shudder or stall when comming to a stop. on the same note, in netural not moving... the car idles fairly high maybe 1200rpms in comparison to every other gear thats maybe 700rpms at idle. im thinking IAC/tps is also causing the trans issue aswell. RobertISaar
what about park? should have the same idle there as neutral.
White93z34
I know on the 4t65e there is a shaft for OD that over time gets worn out and breaks, if the trans really is 10-15k old, i don't know who rebuilt it, but maybe they never replaced that part? as for why it won't kick down, thats a new one on me. White93z34
honestly I have no idea. I just know that there is *something* that breaks and kills OD where the other gears will work fine.
kuntzie
no when in park idle is lower then in netural. also: manual downshifing on shifter will indeed shift down when the pcm allows it to. if ur really acelerating it will downshift on the WOT it will indeed occasionally downshift. no engine code/ trans codes other then abs sensor left front (needs front left wheel bearing) trans fluild is a very light pink and doesnt smell or taste like normal aft.. is dextron for new gms IV is it?... is it a lighter pink? it also doesnt seem as think as atf, but im unsure.. this was done at mister transmission last year and really doesnt effect driveability so much for city driving or not being aware. the guy who owned it said he never had the car over 105km/hr
RobertISaar
taste like normal now THERE'S a dedicated gearhead quote right there... it's Dexron VI, and i didn't notice any major color difference when i bought some a little while ago... BXX
If its really pink then you need to check for coolant contamination. If the trans cooler in the radiator is leaking, the you will get coolant in the transmission. And yes, its very much pink in color then. Had this happened in an excoworkers Neon.. 1 radiator, and 4 trans flushes of about 80 quarts later, it saved his transmission.. And yes, he was having shifting issues and no OD lockup
1990lumina
Werd, little color fluid is BAD. Dex VI is the same color as any other ATF.
kuntzie
it is almost clear in colour, its way lighter then coolant, when putting it onto a white piece of paper it basially looks like clear grease going through a burger wrapper,
IRONDOG442
I fuckin love the fact you tasted it, I taste my oil in my Intrigue all the time! I figure if the LX5 eats it so can I !! Humans digestive systems cannot absorb oil that's why you always see HCL after drugs names we can absorb salts not oils.
digitaloutsider
Is this the modded van? No fourth gear is TYPICALLY caused by a worn fourth clutch hub. The splines on the end of the shaft get worn down by old age, excessive power, prolonged high cruise speeds or a fourth gear desired shift time that is too quick. As for no detent at all, I don't know. Have you changed anything in the PCM?
BXX
I fuckin love the fact you tasted it' date=' I taste my oil in my Intrigue all the time! Ned Flanders
Please let us know what this turns out to be. I am still having issues with mine too, but my fluid is the correct color. The whole thing makes a real drag on the highway.
kuntzie
i am constantly tasting the fluids.. ie tip of finger dab, so nothing major. also van is in stock form, just has a rebuilt trans and engine. i also noticed that the idle is higher in park AND netural in comparison to the gears, park not all the time though, just sometimes.. im thinking the TB may need some cleaning, im going to check to confirm the TPS is reading 0 when idle with the Modis scan tool at schhol tomorrow/
tunerlover3
My trans fluid color is almost clear in color too. Its got a tint of red, but very clear. Mines also got a little over 10K on it now. Did it all of the sudden start doing this? and you know the TPS should read like .6 volts at idle. Not zero.
