bg35765
I hit a deer with the minivan last week, so I will be making more frequent trips to the junkyard trying to get a fender that is the right color and in good condition. There is a convertible there that has most of the convertible parts left on it. (Top pump, roll bar trim, etc.) Are there things that you guys always take off of a junkyard convertible if they are still there, even if you don't really need them at the moment? Maybe things that go for good money on ebay in the Spring? Or things that break frequently and are hard to find? Or is it not worth spending money on stuff I don't absolutely need? jeremy
The outside temp. sensor. I replaced mine twice now. Fwiw: that can be found on other wbodies and isn't convertible specific
94 olds vert
If you find a convertible it probably is going to have the temp. sensor.
ManicMechanic
Any coupe, sedan or convertible with ECC will have a temp sensor.

bg35765
Thanks for the replies. It's a 94 at LKQ. I was going to take the right quarter panel for myself, but it has rust bubbles in the same spot I have rust....of course. (Edit: Oh, you meant interior quarter panels...nevermind.) How do you get the lip spoiler off? Is it just held on with adhesive? Or are there screws that go into it through the bottom of the trunk lid? So the pump and cylinders are not worth bothering with? Next to the pump there was a small black box -- maybe the size and shape of a small car audio amplifier. I'm guessing that is the electrical component that controls the pump, right? Is that worth taking? I guess I should ask the same question for non convertible specific parts, although this may not be the right forum. What else should I always take off of a convertible or coupe? Sun visors, lipped tail lights, power antenna....anything else? It has a rear light bar in good shape, but not perfect. It is the right color for my car though....
ManicMechanic
4 10 mm nuts hold the lip spoiler on, access them through the trunk lid. I'd get the top cylinders and pump. Black box is the keyless entry module. Definitely get the lip tails if they are in good shape. A working power antenna is always good to grab as well. jeremy
yeah, I forgot about the pump/cylinders ....they are worth picking up as spares

AL
Steve and Jeremy... I would be willing to do the drive for those quarters for you... Since I plan on heading up to MI anyway, and will be coming through SB on my way back to NE, I could just bring them... Let me know if you work something out
