PROTESTtheHERO
so ive got the series 1 3800 in my buick regal custom and i couldnt afford a good k&n so u know what happens from here.. i went without a filter altogether and now my MAF is pretty gross. what can i use to clean it off? i thought throttle body cleaner but i dont want to risk fuckin up the MAF which will cost me dearly. when my car was running i blew directly into the MAF and the car died. is that normal or is it wrecked? haha any suggestions will help. i also wanted to start this topic cuz i think we can get a good number of ideas and suggestions about mass airflow sensors. tunerlover3
you can get MAF specific cleaner but i would just use carb/tb cleaner. Though it may be behind cleaning. And it dying when you blew on it is normal. You causing a weird reading at idle and the car doesnt know what to do.
Andrew
you can get MAF specific cleaner but i would just use carb/tb cleaner. NO Use MAF cleaner only. Carb/tb cleaner will ruin the sensor.
Night Fury
Maf cleaner ONLY! And are you dumb? Not running an air filter? Really?

If you can't afford a K&N... run the stock airbox!
runt
Get some MAF cleaner. You can also try some alcohol and q-tip to wipe the sensor. If possible, buy a new one from the yard.

PROTESTtheHERO
yeah well its a beater and i dont really give 2 shits if it doesnt last 4ever. the stock airfilter is garbage n barely pulls and thats y im just runnin the airbox empty. as long as i can clean the MAF i dont see why it matters at this point. im lookin into gettin a K&N soon but i have other priorities with money right now. i still need new rear calipers rotors n pads and i can get the package for $290 at cost(canadian). the wreckers do have tons of w-bodies cuz its right in oshawa where the w-bodies were assembled, so obv the GM workers would get the cars they make. i just cant find any throttle bodies in good condition. does anyone think that a series 2 MAF would work on the series 1? Night Fury
It's your beater but you're going to put a K&N on it when you clearly don't care enough to have a filter on it to begin with? Why bother? Tard.
Andrew
you do realize that leaves and crap can now get up into your engine. this is why filters, even the cheapies, are important.
