daytonboi
Ok i searched and did not see what i need. I'm currently running Ac Delco Rapidfire 14s in the car. I'm also running non foulers and need some hotter plugs to run with them. My question is what is hotter than the 14s and is that even what i should be running in the first place in that car. Why are you running non foulers? And why do you think you need hotter plugs? Put in there what chevy says too or something close.
Crazy K
I have the same question.... I saw you posted that a gorilla installed a few plugs... but you never answered my question: IF YOU INSTALL NEW PLUGS, DO THEY GET DAMAGED IMMEDIATELY? YAY, stretched rods! at least if they do, that's suspect #1...

I'm running them as a "ghetto way of pulling the plugs out the chamber so they can't be hit by whatevers in the motor. I did some reading and it was said if i use non foulers to run a hotter plug because the plug is not in the chamber

I saw you posted that a gorilla installed a few plugs... but you never answered my question: IF YOU INSTALL NEW PLUGS, DO THEY GET DAMAGED IMMEDIATELY? Sorry bout that i though i had answered. In Cylinder 1 i believe its an almost immediate thing and Cylinder 2 i have no clue and how do you get stretched rod and what is a stretched rod? God go get some cheap ass plugs and put them in there correctly, warm the car up good, and give it a few GOOD WOT runs.
Crazy K
HAVE YOU TRIED IT? x25623498052348905763485734108956734 As i understand, the old plugs came out damaged... but did you try fully inserting the NEW PLUGS??? WERE ONLY TWO OF THE ORIGINAL PLUGS DAMAGED? HOW MANY CYLINDERS ARE YOU RUNNING NON FOULERS ON???
daytonboi
This is my second plug change for cylinder 1 since i got the car. The first time i changed it there was nothing left of the top portion of the plug.there was no center electrode and the ground strap was non existent. The picture above is from when i changed all the plugs. The first one in the picture is Cylinder 2 then Cylinder 1, 3,4,5,6. The cylinder 1 plug was damaged like that after only running at idle for 30 seconds. Cylinder 2 was damaged the one time after running some bad fuel in the car. carkhz316
WTF? Nothing should hit.
RobertISaar
WTF? Nothing should hit. should being the key word. something is FUBAR'd in that motor if 30 seconds after you install plugs, they're fucked again. the one that died after a batch of bad gas leads one to believe there are serious detonation issues... jrcuttymann
I am no expert by any means on this subject, but it seems that maybe you have some foreign object in those two cylinders that is hitting the spark plug on the upstroke of the piston and until you can get that object out of there(GOOD LUCK) you will continue to cause damage to spark plugs. Just a shot in the dark here.
tunerlover3
Take out the fuse that controls the fuel pump, take out all the spark plugs, and turn over the engine. Some of that shit should come out. Then put new cheap ass plugs in there and see what happens. I dont believe its a streched rod cause you would think it would kiss the valves too? hotrodolds
That foreign object is most likely a piece of the piston, or MAYBE a valve or valve seat.
daytonboi
Is there anything that could be down in those two chambers that could possibly be made of anything magnetic. Cause i can use one of my telescopic magnets first to get anything that might be big and then do the turning over thing
RobertISaar
pistons are aluminum, heads are aluminum, valves are steel, cylinder walls are steel, rings are steel... did i miss anything?
daytonboi
so if its part of the valve i'm cool otherwise i'm SOL
RobertISaar
so if its part of the valve i'm cool otherwise i'm SOL if it's the valve, you're still fucked... hat do you think a piece of valve bouncing around in a combustion chamber does? daytonboi
yeah i know it's bad to have anything in there but i'm trying to be positive...this motor just needs to last until summer when i can finance my 3400 swap
