oilcan
is there an insert or rubber bushing that goes in the front post for the top latch pins to go in to if so that is it and where can i get it thank you Oilcan
Crazy K
yes. there is a insert from the factory in that hole. but it is made of unobtainium, you can't get it anywhere! seriously, the orignals are plastic, but a member had a machine shop make a batch out of aluminum, that he then sold to other members, and they are really really good... if you can find anyone with a set they might want to re-sell. slick
http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php?topic=66818.0 That was pretty much what he was selling. Someone inform me on a few things. Why was he selling the plastic nipples? I guess, are those to go over the pin that sits into the cup? And if so, where these just to protect the cup from getting scratched? What were the star washers for? Finally, Jeremy if you have an extra, you should bring it along with you on Saturday. I can see what I can do about getting a few more made up, now that I have access to a lathe.
Crazy K
yes, they are protectors... and the star thing slipped over the ends of the pincups locking them in place. most verts use the same set up, except for one single car that had tabs on the original cup.... slick
Ok, well if I am able to make them, I will probably just sell the cups. The washers and protectors can be bought all over the place. Whats the interest in having more of these made?

If you were going to make them, it would make sense to offer the star washers and vinyl caps as well. Usually those things are sold in quantity and it wouldnt make sense for each person who bought them to buy a whole package of each and then use two. slick
I can probably look into them, however I would need to see how long and the ID of the protectors.

I actually pulled out the cups that I have laying around three are the standard style and the fourth is different with the tabs, so I am sure there was more then ONE car that had that style...not sure which year they all came out of but I pull them any time I find them not destroyed. jeremy
here are a few quick pics of the ones that I found last night.....I swear I have another set laying around ....anyway the two on the top row obviously used but are definitely useable and are in MUCH better shape then most I have ran into, the one on the bottom right would be a good one for slick to see what he can do with and the fourth one has the tabs http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v117/86fierose/fd2f7140.jpg[/img] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v117/86fierose/75b89ca7.jpg[/img] http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v117/86fierose/b587b382.jpg[/img]
