slick
$700?!! If it's just the valve cover gaskets, maybe 1 hour or two, if your are taking your time and cleaning everything along the way.

No kidding... especially considering the front valve cover can be removed after just pulling the spark plug wires and PCV line. $700 sounds insane for valve covers on a 3.4. 94 olds vert
Ya, 700 is a lot for those. Do it your self on a weekend. That way the cost is in beers and parts

jeremy
if you were local, I would do it for $500 ....seriously though, like everyone else has said already, it is a pretty easy repair
swift13
to change the gaskets is not a bad job at all the hardest part would be to remove the plenum and thats not that hard. you will have to drain the radiator, disconnect throttle cables and any electrical plugs connecting to the plenum and throttle, remove the spark plug wires, the 3.4 cover, and unbolt the plenum. After that the valve covers, put it all back together and your done. Thats just my quick write up off the top of my head, i may be missing some small details. The only hard part is getting the plenum off, and your home free. If your not completely motor retarded it should be no more than a one and a half to two hour job assuming it is your first time doing this. Enjoy the 700 dollars you just saved. You don't even have to drain the radiator. I can't count how many times I pulled the UIM without draining any fluid.
5speedz34
^True. If you haven't done LIM gaskets this would be a good time to do them.
Crazy K
there IS a cooling passage through the UIM. you will notice a verticle hose on the driver's rear underside. But, you don;t loose much fluid when you yank the UIM off since it is the highest point in the system, anyhow.
