whats this hose for?

ever since I've had my cutlass I had wondered what this hose with an air duct opening on it is for. the flat air opening is on top of the head light housing on the passenger side in the engine bay. the hose then runs back into the right front fender and I can't find it after that. this hose is catching air for some reason and there isn't one on the other side so it shouldn't be a brake duct cooler. can anybody help :?: :!:

the opening is flat and about 2.5 inches wide and clipped onto the top of the plastic housing of the headlights on the right side. the opening is black plastic that comes to a black plastic tubular hose. the hose runs a few inches back and into the fender(between fender and wheel well) I have looked all over with a flash light and cannot find where it goes. there is not one on the other side. the car is a 96' cutlass two door

slade, i don't get that explanation, the opening to the hose is clipped to the top of the headlight housing and the hose runs up the fender, no part of it is in the headlight housing, and if that were true wouldn't it be on both sides.
