cutsup1996
ever since I've had my cutlass I had wondered what this hose with an air duct opening on it is for. the flat air opening is on top of the head light housing on the passenger side in the engine bay. the hose then runs back into the right front fender and I can't find it after that. this hose is catching air for some reason and there isn't one on the other side so it shouldn't be a brake duct cooler. can anybody help :?: :!:
Power-Glide
Edit: I no longer know what the hell your talking about... Picture maybe?
cutsup1996
the opening is flat and about 2.5 inches wide and clipped onto the top of the plastic housing of the headlights on the right side. the opening is black plastic that comes to a black plastic tubular hose. the hose runs a few inches back and into the fender(between fender and wheel well) I have looked all over with a flash light and cannot find where it goes. there is not one on the other side. the car is a 96' cutlass two door
cutsup1996
sorry no pix but somebody's gotta know what I'm talkin' bout, anybody with a cutlass, don't know about the 4 doors though
Slade901
From what I understand about that hose, that hose is used to let any moisture build up to escape out of the headlight housing.
ismellrealbad
i know exactly what ur talking about, but have no idea what it does. i can go take a pic if you want

cutsup1996
slade, i don't get that explanation, the opening to the hose is clipped to the top of the headlight housing and the hose runs up the fender, no part of it is in the headlight housing, and if that were true wouldn't it be on both sides. cutsup1996
good pix, thats exactly what I'm talkin' bout. now where it leads to who knows, the interior? doubting the alternator, why would it need that plus i don't see anything like that near the alt
The Burning Rom
Some 3100 cars did have alt. cooling ducts, in part because they kept frying alts. (suprised? ) I dunno if that is one though
cutlassdude96
I have the same thing and its not the alt cooling thing, I thought its part of the auto climate control.
