jeremy
Did I miss something? I just looked up the IAC and it is $124 from Napa and $93 from Murrays/O'Reillys..... ...last time I replaced one on an LQ1 (which has been a few years) it was only $20-30 ....anyone know of anywhere that still sells them for anywhere close to that amount? ...on a side related note, how effective can cleaning the IAC be in lieu of replacing? thanks! slick
Usually all they need is cleaned. On a side note, it seems as if parts have been jumping up and down lately. Most likely due to supply. I looked at struts one week, in the $40-ish range. Following week, near $90. A few weeks later, back into the $50's. BTW, Rockauto still has them in the $30 range. slick
Be sure to look for a 5% discount code on the internet. It'll usually cover most of the taxes.

5speedz34
FWIW: According to Manic they can and do go bad. Cleaning doesn't just alleviate the problem.
GnatGoSplat
I cleaned mine and that worked great. I think turning on the ignition with the IAC out will get it to kick out the little threaded spindle. I cleaned that real good, then lubed with motor-oil. To get it to suck back in, I put the spindle back in as far as it would go without forcing, then gently put it back in its bore and turned on the ignition. GnatGoSplat
Well, it doesn't cost anything to try.
5speedz34
Ya my problem is when the car is cold it takes an extended period of time to start. Once its warm no problems. I also have a fluctuating idle. I think its a vacuum leak/ iac problem.
Galaxie500XL
Ya my problem is when the car is cold it takes an extended period of time to start. Once its warm no problems. I also have a fluctuating idle. I think its a vacuum leak/ iac problem. A bad coolant temperature sensor can do that. I usually check mine by letting the car sit overnight...hook up the scanner without starting the engine. The sensor should read within a few degrees of the current outside temperature. 5speedz34
I don't have a scanner. But I know I replaced that sensor because I broke it off a few years ago.
