Imp558
I'm getting ready to do rear bearings on the Regal, apparently there are 2 different assemblies. Can anybody tell me what the differences are so I buy the right ones? I think the mounting bolts are 2 different sizes, but I'm not sure and I'm getting them off E-Bay so I have to get it right the first time. It sucks that we have to replace the whole assembly and can't just do the bearing but nobody has a raw bearing. Also are these typical or specific left to right? Thanks guys. Regal_GS_1989
What year of Regal? AFAIK, the only difference should be whether or not you have ABS. One will have the sensor and the other will not. That should be the only difference.
Crazy K
DO NOT BUY FROM E-BAY, UNLESS THEY ARE QUALITY PARTS. DO NOT BUY FROM E-BAY, UNLESS THEY ARE QUALITY PARTS. I've had good luck with used bearings, personally. 96 REGAL? There should only be two types of wheel bearings, both with a square 4 bolt mounting pattern, and the difference is whether your car has or does not have ABS. interchange is supposed to be: any Gen 1 W body 92-96, with ABS. or any 88-97 gen 1 w-body without ABS (gen 1.5 cars might be the same)
Imp558
1996, and ABS, the one seller on e-bay said the stud size would be either 10 or 14mm. I'm assuming he means the bolts that hold the assembly on and not the lugs. The seller has good feedback and I've only looked at ones that are Timkin or SKF. They're considerably cheaper than a parts store. Living in snow country I don't want to use used ones.

Imp558
This is the only one I have saved right now but it's not a brand I know. I'll keep shopping. There was an SKF I missed because I didn't know: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350254304368&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT This one's a Timkin but it's over: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230374124307&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Imp558
According to Rock Auto there were 2 designs, 1st Design; M10 x 1.5 Stud; Torx head and 2nd Design; M14 x 2 Stud; Hex head Apparently we need to see if they have torx or hex bolts and ABS / non ABS. First design appears to be more expensive.
Crazy K
i want to say you need the first design. I think the second design is supposed to be the 1997+ design. this is the second time I see 1997+ parts available for a regal during the 1996 model year... could there be some 1997 models built as late 96s??? or????????????????????????????????????????????/ you need to pull a rear tire and check... p.s. they are the same an 1997 CSs had. you will have to check. Imp558
Not sure if one of you Gurus has seen this before. I got a new rear hub assembly in the other day. The old one was a tight rabbit fit to pull off (heat, chisel, swearing), and it's held in by 10 MM hex bolts, I got 4 new ones from the dealer and they're exactly the same. The new assembly doesn't fit even snugly in the car, it's like 1/32" of freedom? And the holes are slightly bigger. The parts supplier checked twicw and even ran my vin and said it's right, the first design. Also my ABS plug is different, with 2 retaining clips, one on either side vs the new one which has one clip on top in the middle. I think this is wrong but the second design calls for even bigger bolts and that certainly can't be right.
