AWeb80 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 I like my Fuzion ZRi's....but I want something with a lower treadwear rating and a bit more grip. I like the Fuzions for their tread design too. It looks sweet. Tread design is a deciding factor in my search....kinda vain I know.... I'm not really too worried about tread life. If they get 15k out of the way I drive I'll be happy. They ZRi's have over 20k on them w/ some life left. It's really hard to find high performance summer tires in a 245/50-16 size. I really want the Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport from the link below but they don't come in a 245. They are the perfect price too. I don't want to spend over $120 a tire. I plan on getting new ones next spring some time. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=UHP any other tires out there that people like? Quote
Andrew Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 yeah there isnt hardly anything in that size. i was going to suggest either of the BFG KDW's. Both are known to have outstanding grip. Quote
AWeb80 Posted October 4, 2009 Author Report Posted October 4, 2009 I want the KDW 2's so bad...... Quote
Andrew Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 you can get the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 in that size. $169 per tire though. Quote
GOT2B GM Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Hankook Ventus RS-3 They come in a 225 50 16 but are a wide 225 http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Ventus+R-S3 Quote

CSI_MuNkY Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Hankook Ventus RS-3 They come in a 225 50 16 but are a wide 225 http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Ventus+R-S3 Even the R-S2, it comes in a 245/45/16. Tire Rack still has them listed, but I thought they were discontinued back when Matt and I bought our tires. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Ventus+R-S2 Jamie Quote

Nick1234 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 in one of the car magazines a few months ago they tested all the sport tires and kumhos actually had the fastest lap times. But then it rained. and they dropped almost to the bottom. Quote
Leadfoot Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Personally, I would go with either of the BFG that come in that size or the Michelin. I ran BFG on the Z28 and they were great. Got about 28k out of them I believe. When I replaced them in May I went with the new Michelin Pilot Sport AS PLUS. They handle great as well, but I am not sure they handle better than the BFG (at least not enough to justify the additional cost). However, the PLUS comes with a 45k warranty. That alone makes them worth some extra $$$. Honestly, the Michelin come out about the same $ per mile so its really up to you. I thought it was worth it and I can rag them out without having to worry about treadlife. Quote
Radnsmash Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I got tires put on my car a few months ago. Hankook Radial 117s(22560R16) at a local tire shop. $380 for the tires, balancing, mounting, etc.. They handle a buttload better than the old bald Futuras the car came with. Quote

Definitely NOT a high performance tire Jamie Quote
Radnsmash Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I know, I didn't know the OP wanted high performance. But they ride nice Quote
AWeb80 Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 yes....HP is the only thing I'm looking for.... Quote
Andrew Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 as you know, you gotta pay to play, so i vote for the F1 GS-D3. superb grip and its in the size you want. Quote
GOT2B GM Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I will say the worn out F1 GS-D3's I had on the TGP before my 'kooks gripped well. But I couldn't justify the coin for a new set. Its too bad the Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212's are out of stock in the 245-45-16. The TGP is REDICULOUS with them. Quote
AWeb80 Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 Ya...I like those...I remember them from Dayton meet 1. I think I may check out the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval. Firestone makes the Fuzions and I've been happy w/ them. Quote
Grand Moff Joseph Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I've been very happy with the Bridgestone Potenza Pole position (on the tC) and the Potenza G019 (on the I35). Tons of grip. Quote

I'll take a look at them... but remember, I'm certain I drive the GP harder than you do your cars...LOL Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Do they make Michelin Pilot Sport in that size? Quote
AWeb80 Posted October 8, 2009 Author Report Posted October 8, 2009 No. I looked at them. only 17's or bigger. the 17's start at $180 a tire....LOL. This is for the GP....it's not a world class sports car....not gonna spend money like that. $120 should get me more tire than I need. Quote
IRONDOG442 Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 then you have one or two choices. no point in making a whole thread about tire selection when you have two choices. I have pilot sports on my Intrigue and its not a world class sports car, and $180 for pilot sports is a good price my tires in 255 40 18 are $279 per tire. Get the bridgestones. Quote
Leadfoot Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 Do they make Michelin Pilot Sport in that size? Pilot Sport A/S Plus comes in that size with a treadwear warranty 45k. Quote
3.1cutlass Posted October 8, 2009 Report Posted October 8, 2009 I have the Sumitomo HTR +. Amazing tire so far and i push my car pretty hard. They do come in a 245/50/16. Here is the tread Quote
