red93z34
Well after today I no longer own a w-body, the last one I had was sold today for $200, it was my Olds that barly ran anymore. I got rid of the Lumina Z34 a few weeks ago, too many problems. Now I am done with w-body cars, and switching to Ford.

91GranSport
You can have my '94 Ford Taurus. It's 3.0L V-6 puts out less power than the 3.1 MPFI in my old '89 Regal coupe and it's AXOD tranny slips very well. Now I am done with w-body cars, and switching to Ford. red93z34
I dumped my 2 w's for a 2003 Ranger. I was tired of dumping money into both cars all the time.
mfewtrail
good luck in your future ford endeavors...pretty much anything has problems, some moreso than others.my parents GTP is out of commission as of today..misfiring or something to that nature, I didn't get to look at it, plus it's under warranty w/ free towing so no need in me fooling with it although I wouldn't mind checking it out before they take it to the dealership monday(I'm currently sick as hell, joints hurting and a cold..kinda like the flu, but milder). I drove it today and it died on me(no SES light) 1/2 mile from their driveway, it's not fun pushing a 3600lb sedan by yourself and having to steer, I thought I was going to passout afterwards  EDIT: in case any of you are/were wondering, I pushed it on a road parallel to the main road that they live on, through a small subdivision type deal, it was pretty flat but in the hot weather and whatnot along w/ the heavy car it was nothing short of challenging, if it would have been the main road I had to push it on, I would have been f'ed

PJB
I owned a Ranger before but it was a beat POS when I got it so I really cant judge by that. My uncle has a '93 F150 with over 210k on it with the original motor, tranny and rearend and just had a clutch put it around 200k. He's trying for 300k on it. 91GranSport
You simply cannot go wrong with a Ford truck, whether it's a Ranger or an F-150. I would recommend getting the 4.0L V-6 if you're going for the ranger, and at least a V-8 for the F-150. My sister has a Ford Ranger XLT with the 4.0L V-6 and a 5-speed stick. That truck has balls! It's also reliable as hell, been coast to coast in Canada and all around the US without any problems.
Guest RedCutlassSL
Ford trucks don't have much in the way of power. Ford trucks suck. It goes in this order for trucks, and we'll see what happens when Nissan releases the Titan. Chevy, Dodge, Toyota and Ford. For example, my dad has a F-150 with the 302, its such a pussy. It can't even do a powerstand, and it has the steeper gearing. FORD TRUCKS SUCK, bottomline.
91GranSport
Ha ha ha! That's funny shit dude. I think Ford makes decent trucks. I know the Toyota Tundra has been given a better rating than Ford's F-150 but I would never trust a Jap truck to do the same work an American truck was made to do. American trucks have been proven to kick ass for the last 60 years while Jap trucks haven't proven shit. At least not in North America. Don't get me wrong, I think the Tundra is quite capable of doing the job a truck was meant to do but American trucks have proven themselves over and over again. I don't think Ford's Triton engines are as powerful as GM's Vortec engines or Dodge's Hemi engines but I still think they're pretty powerful. I'm not sure if Ford uses SOHC/DOHC multi-valve engines though. For me, a truck has to have OHV. Leave the SOHC/DOHC multi-valve engines on a car. Ford trucks don't have much in the way of power. PJB
302's suck in trucks. The 300 I6 was a much better motor for them. Ive driven a few with the 300 and they had plenty of power, especially with a 5 speed. The only newer Dodge Ive driven was like a '99 dually with the Cummins diesel. My grandfather has a '00 Sierra with the 5.3 and its got alot of balls.
SmokesGTP
Yeah my dad has a 02' Suburban with the 5.3 and it hauls pretty decent ass. I enjoy doing some burnouts in that bitch let me tell ya.
91GranSport
I thought those suckers came standard with the Vortec 6000 that was good for about 320HP or so. GnatGoSplat
97-03 Ford F150 trucks suck. Their 5.4L Triton engines are SOHC, make less power than GM's Vortec pushrod engines, and changing spark plugs on them requires a contortionist and pulling the fuel rail!!! The worst part is they're death traps if you ever drive on 2-way highways. Just check iihs.org for offset crash test pics. The 96-previous F150's were just plain fugly eyesores. The 04 F150's should be much better, but still have the 5.4L Triton engines and don't look as nice as 97-03 IMO. I don't know if Ford makes decent cars or not. I like to avoid DOHC on daily drivers. I know their older cars are troublesome. My parents have a 94 Lincoln Mark VIII and a 94 GMC fullsize truck with the 4.3L V6. The Lincoln has been in the shop countless times for electrical, engine and transmission problems. The GMC has only been in the shop once, to get a seized AC compressor replaced. 91GranSport
Shawn, thanks for the added info. I wasn't too sure what the valvetrain was like on the Triton V-8 series. Now that you mentioned that they're SOHC engines (probably 2 valves per cylinder) then I'd definitely look away. Fuck SOHC/DOHC on trucks. That shit wasn't meant to be. Not unless it's a fucking Cummins Turbo Diesel (yes, Cummins has a DOHC turbo diesel) that's found on Kenworths and other highway tractors. BTW: Ford does not make decent cars. I've had several vehicles over the years and Ford cars have always been pieces of shit. My sister's '97 Ford Ranger XLT has been problem free since she bought it, but I had to rebuild the tranny on my '94 Ford Taurus GL twice in five years at the cost of $1,500 each time. It also uses more fuel than my '91 Regal GS which has a larger, more powerful engine. I also think my Buick is heavier than the Taurus. Fuck Ford cars, they are shit. 97-03 Ford F150 trucks suck. Their 5.4L Triton engines are SOHC, make less power than GM's Vortec pushrod engines, and changing spark plugs on them requires a contortionist and pulling the fuel rail!!!
