how hard is it to do...

how hard would it be to do intake manifold gaskets and new head gaskets? do i have to remove the engine to get the heads off? i read in some guide that it tells you to do that for the rear head. my LIM gasket is leaking all of a sudden and ive read on here that you guys recommend doing the head gaskets too. im kinda scared to remove the heads though because the previous owner mentioned something about the owner before him overheating the engine, which could possibly mean warped heads.

Well everyone hastei own opinion but I would just do the LIM gaskets and the other gaskets involved with removing the intake.

When i bought my lumina the previous ower stated that it had a blown rear headgasket but i took my chances and Changed the LIM gaskets and all was good.

Is it overheating now?

okay. that would be much easier haha...and no its overheating just leaking. and sometimes when i go almost wide open throttle is kinda feels like its surging a little bit but i dont know whats causing that

Pulling the engine is not necessary to do head gaskets. It is just kinda difficult to remove the rear exhaust manifold due to space constraints. I would just do the intake gaskets.

It's rare for head gaskets to fail on those engines. Unless they're obviously leaking and you have good compression on all cylinders I think it'd be safe to assume they're OK. You could get a hydrocarbon test done as well.

Depends on how fast you work. People will tell you all sorts of numbers, but even with little to no experience, but some good tools, probably anywhere from 3-5 hours. It all depends on experience and what you break.

okay thanks. i just recieved my gasket kit from rockauto today so yea.

hope you got the perma-dry kit?

the fastest I've done it is about 8 hours.

the slowest? 1 year.

Yeah i did. advance auto is where i usually get my parts cuz its cheaper than my local napa. but advance wanted $100 for the gaskets, and rockauto had them for about $50 or $60, ended up being about $70 after shipping.
