douellette
how hard would it be to do intake manifold gaskets and new head gaskets? do i have to remove the engine to get the heads off? i read in some guide that it tells you to do that for the rear head. my LIM gasket is leaking all of a sudden and ive read on here that you guys recommend doing the head gaskets too. im kinda scared to remove the heads though because the previous owner mentioned something about the owner before him overheating the engine, which could possibly mean warped heads. rockfangd
Well everyone hastei own opinion but I would just do the LIM gaskets and the other gaskets involved with removing the intake. When i bought my lumina the previous ower stated that it had a blown rear headgasket but i took my chances and Changed the LIM gaskets and all was good. Is it overheating now? douellette
okay. that would be much easier haha...and no its overheating just leaking. and sometimes when i go almost wide open throttle is kinda feels like its surging a little bit but i dont know whats causing that
Venom
Pulling the engine is not necessary to do head gaskets. It is just kinda difficult to remove the rear exhaust manifold due to space constraints. I would just do the intake gaskets.

GP1138
It's rare for head gaskets to fail on those engines. Unless they're obviously leaking and you have good compression on all cylinders I think it'd be safe to assume they're OK. You could get a hydrocarbon test done as well. carkhz316
Depends on how fast you work. People will tell you all sorts of numbers, but even with little to no experience, but some good tools, probably anywhere from 3-5 hours. It all depends on experience and what you break. carkhz316
^What he said. In reality, it can be done in what I quoted, or less, but yeah, do set aside a weekend. Expect things to go wrong (not trying to sound like a pessimest)
