dodgethis
Hey its getting to be that time again. I am going to replace the Spark plugs, Wires, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, and Pvc. Does anyone have pictures of where the PVC valve is on a 3100? I hope to hell i don't have to take off the throttle body just to get at it. 1990lumina
The PVC valve on the 3100 is on the front valve cover I thought.

AWeb80
if the PCV rattles, don't change it. It's still good. Rapid Fire 8's for plugs
dodgethis
sorry guys I'm a noob on this, first time changing out the pcv. So i understand it right around this area, but not eactly what is being circled in this area. Take that back, so that is the pcv.

MonteCarloChick
use ac delco plugs and wires
RobertISaar
use ac delco plugs and wires plugs: definitely wires: not necessarily. i'm running hand-made Taylor Spiro-Pro 8mm wires.... no EMI issues and has less resistance than the stock wires do... tunerlover3
I use NGK plugs and wires. Love them.
AWeb80
NGK is good for 3800's

rockfangd
not supposed to be loose. pull the throttle bracket from the TB and pull the hose up. It is a T hose, where the hose pushes into the TB goes bad. I have actually used telon tape around the area that goes into the TB and pressed it back in. Also when you put the bracket back on you can put something between the bracket and the T to keep it in the TB
douellette
i was thinking about putting silicone around it to seal it?
AWeb80
or cut a piece off of a 3/8" hose, then shave down the diameter a bit and shove it in there. works great
RobertISaar
be sure to check out the connection on the rear valce cover as well. its the other half of the PCV system: valve(front) side pushes air from the motor to the airstream, the other(rear) side allows fresh air in form the airstream. RobertISaar
its not that tough on the MC... i don't have to remove anything to pull the whole thing off. maybe a 30 second process to wiggle it out. but either plug it and essentially make the PCV system a very weak vacuum pump, or get is sealed up and have fresh air running through the motor to replace the air that gets drawn out by the suction side. dodgethis
How do you guys get it out? I read you turn it counter clock wise, and a spring and gasket comes out. I must be missing something here because isn't a wrench needed to do that?
dodgethis
Figured it out, pulled it out with hose attached and swapped it with a new one. I had 80,000 miles on the car and its supposed to be changed every 30,000 miles I went ahead and did it anyway. That was easy.

xtremerevolution
Man I'm confused here. I've never changed the PCV Valve on my 3800 Series 1. I know where it is, and have seen pictures of it. What is its purpose? What are the consequences of me not changing it after...207k miles? digitaloutsider
It's probably clogged full of shit and not ventilating anything.
