brianstarr58 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I have a 95 vert 3.4 dohc with 126,xxx. When I first start it up, it leaks coolant, but I can't tell where it 's coming from. Then after it warms up, it doesn't leak anymore. The coolant is visible on the ground and appears to coming from the drivers side somewhere but I can't tell. It leaks about 4 to 8 ounces. I let the car sit for 20 minutes and no leaks. But once it's cold...it leaks. Also the temp gauge seems low...around 120 degrees. Any ideas? Quote
bodeen2007 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 my 3.1l lumina was doing that . It was pissing me off cause i couldn't find any sign of a leak. I found out that it was my water pump it was leaking out of the little hole that are on the front but the only way i found that out was taking the water pump pulley off. I would try there . Quote
Crazy K Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 probably time to do your full intake gaskets. there are water passages that could leak in that area, and it would be a driver's area leak. Quote
White93z34 Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 I'd say most likely it is that heater core pipe that runs into the side of the intake manifold. Remove the airbox and watch it with a flashlight when the car is cold Quote
94GPGTP Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 The o-ring between the UIM and LIM?? Quote
brianstarr58 Posted January 17, 2010 Author Report Posted January 17, 2010 Found coolant leak...it was the intake manifold gasket. That explains why it would stop leaking when the car warmed up. The shop where I took it charged me $250. Was that a good price? Quote
Crazy K Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 that seems average. You could have done it yourself, with a little help from your friends. that gasket is not that hard to do. Quote
