Octavarium454
So with a lot of thanks to 95 Vert, I was able to gain a lot of information about this swap and he even hooked me up with ALLDATA pin outs for the C100 connector. I was repinning on paper before my harness comes in and I am worried because it seems I am doing a lot more deleting than actually moving wires. A majority of the Monte wires match the GTP wires but the only wire I found that moves is the ignition wire. Otherwise the rest are deleted. Now I know I'm doing something wrong here... The wires that are changed/deleted on the Monte harness according to what I came up with are... -E1 moves to A3 (Ignition) -A3 Deleted -B1 Deleted -C2 Deleted -J1 Deleted -J2 I must add to the interior harness for OBD II. -L1 Deleted If someone is really bored I am including the pin out data below. Imp558
What tranny are you running? Are you gonna cal the PCM?
Octavarium454
I'm going to be using the 4T65E-HD that was mated to the motor.
Imp558
I'll look it over some more tonight, but you need to run the org/blk wire that is park/neutral position and the violet Torque Converter Clutch power wire. Are you going to cal the PCM or just let those other things bounce codes? You also need to install an OBD-II DLC in the car, or you should rather. DLC pin 2 will be the Class II data, 4&5 will both go to ground, and pin 16 will be battery power.
Octavarium454
My OBDII issues will actually be taken care of when I swap my molested interior harness for an untouched one out of a 96 GP, so that I am not too concerned about. To begin with I can give a damn less if it pops up codes I just need to make sure it runs, but then I will go in and calibrate the pcm. Do I need to repin anything on the PCM side of the harness or just calibrate it to not throw the codes?
Imp558
You'll may not even need to cal it, unless you're eliminating emissions or something. You might want to adjust for tire size, change the fan temps and move your shift points around later so it might be a good idea. let me chew on it for a little bit, I'll give you some instructions. When is this project going down?
Octavarium454
Well I am currently performing all the physical work up to the point of getting the new trans in and modifying my fuel lines, hoses, transmission lines, and cutting the firewall to make room for the L67 downpipe. After I finish that my harness should be in from Milzy Motorsports and I would like to get on that before dropping the motor in.
Imp558
Looks like you've got it Homie, in addition, L1 & B1 appear to power the inside fuse panel. You may want to recycle those from the 3.4 harness and re-install them. They each get a 60A fuse, you may be able to do that at the underhood elec center, or you can hit the car audio shop and get a couple fuse holders and 2 60A fuses. The new DLC will need what I said, and also the tan wire from J4 run to pin 9. I don't know how I feel about leaving it on J4 also, see they're both uart communications and they go to the ABS and stuff but the communications may not be the same. On the other hand, without J4 the ABS may not work and it's also tied into your airbags so they may not be right. If you want the new DLC inside you can run that class 2 line through pin C1,K3, or E1 just to get you through the firewall and cut the wire inside the car and run it to DLC 2. Watch for grossly mis-sized wires too, I didn't compare the wire sizes on those few power wires. It's amazing how little GM changed that plug in 5 years, I've seen big time changes in just a model year or 2 before. If that L67 has been sitting a while consider having the injectors tested, MAF sensor is clean, working, and not installed backwards, and make sure you have adequate fuel pressure. Good luck
Octavarium454
Great! Thanks a lot! Today I went and got my 96 GP harness with OBD II so the worries with there being conflicts in that area should be non existent, and I already got the old L1 and B1 wires removed from the 3.4 harness and ready to install. The only other thing that I have a question on is B2 on the Monte harness. It is labeled as PCM Sensor ground, yet the GP harness has no such thing. Could I just go and ground this wire anywhere I find suitable?
Imp558
Actually all you need to do is install 5 wires to an OBD-II DLC somewhere on the car, if you do a 96 harness you may be asking for more incompatibility in other places. If it were me I'd leave the 3.4L body harness in and just do like you're planning. The sensor ground is for the Fuel tank pressure or gauge sender, it doesn't need to be grounded, it is a ground of sorts. Just remove it but don't try to use it as a ground. The 5v ref used to go to that sender as well.
