hmdznrcld
I have a 93 3.4 DOHC, When I fire her up the AIR pump comes on, it idles fine. As soon as the pump powers down the idle hunts between 1000-1200 rpms, it will continue doing this until the car is super hot. I took it out the other day for a drive, stopped to get gas, fired her up and the rpm's jumped to 2000?? I also got a code 35 IAC, which has been coming and going. I have checked all the vac lines, changed the map sensor etc. I have to go to the referees station very soon and can't take a chance that this idle issue will come up or I will fail. Anyone have any clues? I know this engine should run alot smoother than this. TIA
Crazy K
have you cleaned out the iac passage and throttle body area?

Mach 5
I would just replace the IAC valve. Its probably sticking
hmdznrcld
Well the problem may have been all along that there was a small brown o-ring that was missing on my IAC, I took one out of my other gp just to see what would happen. When I pulled it I noticed the o-ring but didn't remember seeing one on the one I cleaned earlier. I installed the borrowed and right away I could tell the difference, I will wait to see how she responds after being totally cooled down. Glad I didn't have to spend the 56.00 for a new one when it seems I just needed the dang o-ring.
Mach 5
it doesn't help to have that missing. Glad its running better
hmdznrcld
Well I spoke too soon This may be a fast fix but don't know yet. Is there a way to re-learn the idle setting without a aldl tool? I heard you have to dis-connect the battery and re-connect?? Right now as soon as I turn her on it flies right to 2200 rpm's CRAP

hmdznrcld
Well It looks like I'll just go buy A new IAC tomorrow. After cleaning, and then resetting the darn thing it started to idle down to about 1k like it's supposed too. After the battery disconnect, 20 second wait, power ecm back up, let the car run for 10 minutes, shut off for 5 minutes it set and idled fine. Then after 45 minutes I went to move the car back to the garage, right back up to 2200 rpm!! So maybe it's getting stuck?? I'll just buy a new one and see if it clears up.
