pontiacmaniac94 Posted September 21, 2009 Report Posted September 21, 2009 So yah, dad was driving his 97 monte last week, and had to make a u-turn, so he decided to use someone's driveway, and moving rather quickly in reverse, he backed into a mailbox. Here is the result. So I am workin on filling it all back in, and I also happen to have a brickyard style spoiler we are going to be throwin on. He is doing the spoiler and paint, and I am going to be doing the bodywork (its nice having 3 days off a week) http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1576.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1576.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1578.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1579.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1580.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1580.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1582.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1583.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1584.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1586.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1580.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1595.jpg[/img] ]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1589.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1588.jpg[/img] v http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1590.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1591.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1592.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1593.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1593.jpg[/img] Quote

pontiacmaniac94 Posted September 22, 2009 Author Report Posted September 22, 2009 This is after the first day of sanding. I have gotten it filled in about 75%, now for the hard 25% of feathering that will take place tomorrow (its nice only working 4 days a week) then hopefully had it ready for paint either this week, or next. Dad is pretty pumped that the car is turning out okay. Any suggestions? http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1601.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1602.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1603.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1604.jpg[/img] \http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1606.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1607.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1608.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1609.jpg[/img] http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b64/pontiacmaniac94/IMG_1610.jpg[/img] Quote
Twenty Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 It's looking good! My only concern is matching the paint when the time comes to respray that part. Seeing cars that have obvious patch jobs irks me. Quote

Seeing cars that have obvious patch jobs irks me. patch job?? patch job?!?!?! LOL. I will paint the entire length of the quarter panel from the door jam to the back. I have the tape on the side so I don't get too over zealous on the air sander Quote
Garrett Powered Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 are you rage'in it or just bondo? Quote
pontiacmaniac94 Posted September 26, 2009 Author Report Posted September 26, 2009 are you rage'in it or just bondo? ragin? wat? I don't think so, just going to push out as well as I can, then fill the rest with bondo. it won't be perfect, but it will be about 232x better than what he had done before, I will have some more pics up tomorrow or sunday, depending on when he gets paint. slick Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 http://www.evercoat.com/productDetail.aspx?pID=10 What he's talking about is good, quality body filler. Not none of that auto store Bondo crap. Quote
carkhz316 Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 Before everyone flames you about how to do bodywork, just a wee tip. Don't paint over any solid permanent marker lines. It can and may bleed through believe it or not, or at very least show through without enough paint over it. Otherwise, good luck and have fun! Quote
RobertISaar Posted September 26, 2009 Report Posted September 26, 2009 It can and may bleed through believe it or not, or at very least show through without enough paint over it. you know............. it sounds kind of ricey, but maybe that would be an interesting way to custom paint... without actually more than one color of basecoat. just draw on the primer or filler, spray it, and see how it comes out... Yah, I am snading down past that point anyway, I was putting it on there for when I was "roughing" it in. That looked like it hurt Well, and I am surprised, i figured he would have stopped long before he went that. I will have new pics up tomorrow when I work on it somemore. Quote
