I've been hearing a wierd squeeling noise coming from the front of my cutty the past week. It seems like it happens under medium acceleration between 27mph to 38mph. My serp belt is only about 2 yrs old and looks in decent condition. Could some sort of vacuum leak give off a squeel? I'm not sure what to check since I'm always in the driver seat...which makes the noise sound like its coming from my side. Any help would be great. :x :? :(

Is a belt squeal? During certain RPM's? Or only @ 27-38 mph?

I would try another serp belt; age without cracks can cause squealing.

Otherwise it may be the water pump bearings going out.

The tensioner could be getting weak. Every accessory on the belt uses bearings, which can go bad and squeal. Sometimes only when cold, high speed, etc...

it happens under medium acceleration between 27mph to 38mph.

Maybe someone slipped an extra 150hp under your hood without telling you?

Well it sounds liks a belt squeal. Never pin pointed the RPMs, but it happens under moderate acceleration. And seems to happen between 27-38 mph. I know it sounds wierd, but thats the story. I changed the tensioner pulley when I changed the serp belt...about 2 yrs ago.

Recently I cleaned the TB. Then I put my K&N drop filter back in swapping out an Cone induction(last night). I thought that the cone induction had a air leak where it connects to the TB, but the sound still existed today.

Also it happens every once in awhile...not everytime I accelerate.
