89GP_SE Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Specs: 92 Lumina 3.1L This has been a problem for about a month now, when I first turn the key on after the car has sat all night, I dont hear the fuel pump surge. I crank it over a few times and long cranks, after about the third time she pulses, then hit the key and it starts. Now if my memory serves me correctly if you have a bad fuel pump relay, the fuel pump wont go until there is oil pressure the fuel pump will sure because of the oil pressure sending unit.... basically a fail safe. The thing is I replaced the fuel pump relay with a new one, but to no avail it still does this. I connected the test wire under the hood to the positive on the battery and it pulses. I have around 50 psi when idling and I just replaced the fuel pump last year around this time, I dont suspect the fuel pump to be bad. For now I have jimmy rigged my trunk button to pulse the fuel pump first thing in the morning. This works pretty slick by the way, but I really would like to make it work correctly. Quote
