94 olds vert Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 I've used rubbing compound before...Just not on this bumper. (yet) I've used sarcasm before too. Quote
virtuetovice Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 But you've never used running compound. Quote
RobertISaar Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 Then go over it with some running compound. Very wise of you to use running compound. That will certainly make it go faster. highlights and puns. Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 I thought because race car. Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 I don't like racecar when you spell it's backwards it's still racecar. In real life you can tell which way a racecar is going. It's not coming and going. Quote
RobertISaar Posted April 3, 2012 Report Posted April 3, 2012 when my racecar doesn't want to start, i rub it with running compound and it tends to start. Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 3, 2012 Author Report Posted April 3, 2012 It's awesome what a good wet sanding can do. I still have a long ways to go yet. But it's really starting to come along. Before: After: Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Well, I'm done wet sanding this. I think it turned out great. I can't wait to see it installed on the car. The paint is nice and smooth and it shines brilliantly. For white paint it has some good depth. Quote
95cutlass Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Very shiny!!! That will look really good on the Olds, can't wait to see it on the car. Quote
urbex Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Now the bumper isn't going to match the rest of the car, it'll be too nice! Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Very shiny!!! That will look really good on the Olds, can't wait to see it on the car. Thanks. Should look tons better than my current one. Eric, I had that same fear. The rest of the paint on the cutty is in really good shape. So I'm not too worried. At least the color matches. Quote
urbex Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Yeah, on my hood we actually sanded it down a little to dull it so it didn't look better than the rest of the car, because it did, lol Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 LOL Al, I was thinking about your car when I was doing this. Getting ready to install this today. I got the old one off really easy didn't have to fight one rusted bolt. Looks scary without a bumper. A couple close of shots of the two bumpers. Quote
pshojo Posted April 4, 2012 Report Posted April 4, 2012 Yeah, i've been looking for that, didn't see it on Energy Systems page, i will look again. Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 Yeah, i've been looking for that, didn't see it on Energy Systems page, i will look again. The poly bushings for the sway bar? I'll have to look for a link... Does anyone off hand know what size the nuts are for the vacuum ball. Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 4, 2012 Author Report Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) They are 11mm if anyone in the future needs to know. This looks really good. Still have to put on my emblem. Edited April 5, 2012 by 94 olds vert Quote
ScoobyDoo82 Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Needs better pics, but it looks good. Better than the old one anyway. Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 5, 2012 Author Report Posted April 5, 2012 Thanks Spencer, I will get some better pictures tomorrow that aren't from my phone. I'm very happy right now. Couldn't have turned out better. In a couple weeks I'll get some wax on it. Quote
95cutlass Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 The newly painted bumper looks really good on the front of your car; Very shiney!!! Quote
AL Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 LOL Al, I was thinking about your car when I was doing this. I was being serious btw Quote
pshojo Posted April 5, 2012 Report Posted April 5, 2012 Yeah, bushings for the sway bar. i'm replacing my control arms and thought while i'm at it, i can replace the bushing for the sway bar. Quote
94 olds vert Posted April 5, 2012 Author Report Posted April 5, 2012 Yeah, bushings for the sway bar. i'm replacing my control arms and thought while i'm at it, i can replace the bushing for the sway bar. I've also done by control arm bushings... But anyways I found the links for you. These are for the front inner 9.5173: http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=9.5173 These ones here are for the front outer 9.5159: http://www.amazon.com/Energy-Suspension-9-5159R-Performance-Sets-Greaseable/dp/B005BDBIQ6 Found those on amazon for cheaper. I believe that's for FE3 cars, unless all first gens have the same size front sway bar. I thought I was going to get a new emblem for the cutty I didn't want to stick this one on my new bumper. After a clear coat and a wet sand with some polish and wax this looks better than new. Quote
