randini667
Can I press the valve in the Fuel Access Port to do a basic pressure test? I don't have access to a gauge atm. Thanks! (I ask because when I do a KEY ON and press the valve, I get a small spurt, about a tsb of gas, and that's it.) White93z34
you should get a good bit shooting out of it. can you tell us more about the problem?
randini667
The car as various problems, so I won't go into detail, but the disabling problem is that it cranks, but doesn't want to start... Good spark, mid grade fuel, swapped pump relay (maybe the swapped is bad), checked fuse, can hear pump engage when KEY ON. Anyways, I'm in the troubleshooting phase with limited resources and thought maybe I should be getting more fuel spraying out like you say, that's when I jumped on here to read up. Sounds like I'm not getting the pressure I need. Next step is spraying some fuel into the intake and seeing if it starts, then I'll be one step closer. -Randy
GhrarhG
If you suspect fuel pressure, go to your nearest Autozone and rent a fuel pressure gauge. Comes in a huge box and has all kinds of fittings. They give you your money back when you return it, so essentially it's free.
tunerlover3
You cant tell fuel pressure by just pressing in the shrader valve....... Get a gauge. Read key on engine off pressure. Engine running pressure. and Then take off the vacuum line and that will be fuel pressure under a load.
Mach 5
If its the earlier 1st gens, you should be able to jump the fuel pump test lead to the battery to take some readings. Which engine is in it?
randini667
It's got the 3.1 in there. I'm just trying to get a rough idea if it's getting fuel... So don't worry about troubleshooting my issues. Thanks. -Randy
