tgpguy21
does anyone know if it is relativley easy to swap out a normal 3100 with a turbo 3.1 litre. I have a TGP at home that runs awesome except the cross over pipe, but the body looks like shit. so if i all the wiring and everything should it be fairly simple???? The Burning Rom
The 3100 wiring harness is different than the TGP's. Also, you will need to swap trannies as well. The NA 4T60e will not be able to handle the job...at least not for very long Why scrap out the TGP? They're rare cars. Why not fix the body up? tgpguy21
well would it just be easier to take the turbo and everything off the tgp and put it on this gp or would it be easier to just take the entire engine and trannie and everything from the tgp and put it in the other gp?? the body on the tgp is in really rough condition, really bad paint, front air dam is cracked somthing is f***ed up with the abs. Also im in cali. so the emissions are really strict out here. i would need to take out the cross over pipe to weld it back up for a little while anyway. this 94 se coupe is gonna be my project car im gonna do custom paint and everything to it. let me know what you think. The Burning Rom
Well..other than the paint job, the only costly thing really is the ABS....at least from the things you've mentioned. Whether you switch the engine or not, the crossover WILL still need to be replaced. And yes, if you are going to swap the engine, you have to swap the trans too...as well as all the wiring. The trans that the SE has would not hold up well at all! I just suggested fixing the TGP because as I said they are quite rare. I think the TGP by itself is show worthy. I mean when you think about it, there were only 7000 or so built. And I estimate around 2000 of them being gone already to the scrap yard...or just plain parted out. Now that may not sound like a lot, but when you compare it to the number of normal GPs built those years...it's just a drop in the bucket. And I just hate to see one of em gutted and discarded. But that's my thinking. It's your car..you do what you want with it. BTW, your profile says you're in east central minn.
