Q-Ball Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 Well here is an update, the car has had 2 days of work on it, and I'm getting in trouble for not getting a drivers side door mirror and gas cover fast enough. :red: Anyways, scroll down and you will see all the pics. Original Post. Well, finally decided to clean up the rust around my car. No holes or nothing and get the car a fresh coat of paint. I do plan to keep this car as my Daily driver. Nothing too crazy. I am going to keep it black, but its full black instead of the normal two tone for the GS. Think I should go for it? I also am putting the dual exhaust on and possibly my SLP rear bumper cutouts and SLP flush mount spoiler on too. The car does have 298,500 km, but I bought a spare engine and trans with 165,000km. The car still runs great, but got some clunking in the front now. Any idea's to top out the black? Maybe a little bit of metallic flake? Quote
slick Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 Maybe some silver or gold metallic flake, but not too much. Quote
GOT2B GM Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 not body work related but tint. And I would say just go regular black on a DD. Easier to match again if/when your asian neighbour backs into your car..... Quote
Q-Ball Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 I had my uncle weld on new rockers back in Novemeber so it would pass safety. Now that winter is coming again, I taking care of the rest of the rust. Day 1. Checking out an 04+ Grand Prix for the exhaust that I'm getting. Also using it to measure the bumper cut outs. Quote
Q-Ball Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 Day 2. Dual SLP bumper cut outs are installed, but the rear bumper was already in prepping so I couldn't snag a pic. All rust cleaned up, new welds in and POR-15'd. Quote

CSI_MuNkY Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Is that spoiler being held on with Wood screws?!?!?!?! Quote
GOT2B GM Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 whats with the wood screws in the spoiler? Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Well.... I guess it won't rattle.... or squeak if you step on it! Jamie Quote
Regal_GS_1989 Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Just out of curiosity...Were you replacing the driver side mirror because the autodim fluid leaked? (looks like it did in the pics) If yes, you can easily replace just the glass portion. I did that exact same thing on my car. I ended up pulling a heated, non dimming glass portion from a century. It simply just pops out and pops back in . Quote
Q-Ball Posted September 2, 2009 Author Report Posted September 2, 2009 whats with the wood screws in the spoiler? Nah, self tapping screws. The spoiler is getting screwed and glued. Debating if I want it to look like as if it is molded with the trunk or to keep it looking separate. I did that exact same thing on my car. I ended up pulling a heated, non dimming glass portion from a century. It simply just pops out and pops back in . Yep, just the auto dimming crap leaked into the mirror lense. I could try that, but my uncle already found me a mirror of a 2003 and said he would just paint it for free and put it on. Quote
CSI_MuNkY Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 self tapping screws Same shit different pile... http://my350z.com/forum/the-lounge-off-topic/389628-horrible-body-shop-experience-details-inside-350z-ruined.html Jamie Quote

Q-Ball Posted September 3, 2009 Author Report Posted September 3, 2009 Hahaha, that car is so mangled! Sucks to be him. Anyways, heres some new pics. I was too lazy to add yesterdays, but here they are. She is getting metallic added to my original black paint code too! Day 3. Quote
Twenty Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 I can't wait to see the paint once it's on! Same shit http://my350z.com/forum/the-lounge-off-topic/389628-horrible-body-shop-experience-details-inside-350z-ruined.html I've seen that before, just awful. Quote
1990lumina Posted September 4, 2009 Report Posted September 4, 2009 Looking good. I wish I could do this with my Lumina - but the paint would have to come off down to the primer/metal because it's all flaking and cracked. Quote
Q-Ball Posted September 4, 2009 Author Report Posted September 4, 2009 Day 5. I pick up the car on Tuesday after work. I ended up having to get a brand new fuel door cover from the dealership as they wanted to paint the car today. But atleast this way it will sit for 3 days (LONG WEEKEND) and be put back together on Tuesday. Quote
