99screaminregal Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 Okay, so Iwanna do a true fender CAI install. What's the easy way to do it? Also, thinking of taking out my fog lamps and putting some PVC piping to tube air right to the filter, kinda like a "ram air" config I guess. Any thoughts?? Quote
jake91 Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 i thought about doing that once but i found out from other members it wouldnt be any better than a stock air box as it would only help if your going 70 a true fwi is the best Quote

GOT2B GM Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 a CAI will sound mean as hell on a LQ1 trust me, that alone is worth it. Quote

runt Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 I don't mind Nissans, but these are NOT 350z's. That's all. Quote
99screaminregal Posted August 25, 2009 Author Report Posted August 25, 2009 Thanks for all the input. Think I'm gonna straight pipe the exhaust for (gonna put a dual chamber Summit Racing muffler on in place of the cat soon) pipes, cat and muffler are rusted out and doing the old GM rasp. Now to figure out how to build my cai. Thoughts on the Nissan ideas. I think it would be a close sound of the 3.5L. I was next to a G35 Infinity the other day and sounded pretty even at idle. Love Nissans, family has had a few. Quote
jake91 Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 just make sure you ad an resonator or that exhaust setup is going to be raspy as hell Quote
99screaminregal Posted August 26, 2009 Author Report Posted August 26, 2009 Oh yeah, resonator, guess I'll just have to take dad's spud bar and hollow out my cat then put it back on Thanks Jake Quote
BXX Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 And please dont be like other people out there and make your CAI outta PVC piping. Thats just retarded. I bought sections or very thinwall aluminum intake piping off ebay for cheap. Much better looking and more correct than using HVAC parts Quote
RobertISaar Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 not to mention actually functional.... pvc doesn't tend to flow too well with the angles that are necessary... Quote
BXX Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 not to mention actually functional.... pvc doesn't tend to flow too well with the angles that are necessary... Yeah, I think I got a piece of 3" with a 30 degree bend for like $25 shipped.. Thats all I needed actually to do mine, if I wanted to to jut further into my fenderwell I would just need like another piece with a 45 degree bend or 90 degree but I decided it wasnt neccessay Quote
