Death of Christine, again. !! Towed 08/28 !!

For those who don't know, Christine is my, once Torch Red, '93 Lumina Z34. I broke/built her from the bottom up without any real engine mods. Mostly interior and exterior touches. Then one day, about 2 or 3 years ago, a tree fell on her after some serious storms hit the Chicago area. I restored her and then painted her black. It was a short lived resurrection but I had my best of times behind the wheel with her. the wife's hurt and my kid says, "Christine is gonna have a hard day." I'm having the worst day of all. So below is the story of what's happening now.

Well, it's time for Christine to hit the junk yard. It's been a long hard road for the both of us but I'm not gonna keep her around any longer. I'm parting her out and then she's going. May just drive her there or get her towed. Cash for Clunkers is a scam with inflated MSRP on crap cars, in my opinion. I was able to work out a deal with my father-in law to buy his 2001 Monte Carlo with 12,000 miles, Yes 12,000 miles. It's not a typo. I got Christine stripped out already just need to see what people are going to want.

Just thought I had to share the news with everyone. See Parts for Sale if you're interested in anything.

Thank you for the many years of service Christine. You will be missed.

!! UPDATE 08/28 !! UPDATE 08/28 !! UPDATE 08/28 !! UPDATE 08/28 !! UPDATE 08/28 !! UPDATE 08/28 !!

!! Bump !!

Christine has been hauled off to the junker. Happened at about noon today. Happened so fast and didn't have a chance to cry. I told my wife, "It's hard to cry when I can't even breathe."

I'm just glad that the games are over. I have a new beginning. I'll post pics of the new "W" soon.

Here's some pics.

End of an era, what a clean Z she was.

Selling your gauge pod by chance? I'm interested.

Yes but please ask for it in the For Sale/Want to Buy section and I will respond there. Thanks!

So why are you parting it out and then scrapping it instead of selling it??

Ws are worth more in parts than whole....

Exactly! There's only the body and motor left after I pulled everything out of the interior that I want to sell here. If the body parts don't sell, oh well. She's be leaving with them.

Man, I was wondering where you disappeared to. That's really too bad about the car. :( That thing was insanely clean when I last saw it. What happened that made it a short lived resurrection??

Here's some shots of her at the one meet you brought it out to:

Damn dude, that sucks to hear about it. Glad to see you around again though.

Do you still have Alex's number? The guy who did your body work. I'll be driving back to Chicago soon and I'll need to have him fix that big dent in the back of the Jaguar. I doubt I could do it myself.

Really sorry to see that thing hit the junk yard after all that time and effort, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Thanks for posting up those pictures. I kinda cringe when I see them due to the small imperfections that I rushed just to get her on the road that day. The grille isn't straight, the door seat belt trim cover was busted, car has swirl marks and the remaining over spray from the Torch Red paint.

Times are hard right now. I was working for McDonald's Corp. in US Restaurant Development. I was the architect for the Greater Southwest Region and things got brutality slow. I was laid-off :frown: due to lack of work. Income has gone down significantly and I can't afford to repair her. She has many mechanical problems. Someone with a couple hundred bucks can have her in tip top shape. I can't keep doing this to my family, spending money on a, seemly like, forever on going repair bill. It's time to just put her down and put the two of us out of misery. I'm gonna cry when shes gone. My neighbor, last night, told I should keep her and paint her Torch Red again. I'd love too, but I'm not winning any lottery any time soon.

Thanks again for the pics. I saved them.

Yeah I got Alex's number. There a problem with me sharing it with you though. He's kinda in hiding, I swear to god. I can get you in touch with him when you get here. He is around, it's just that he doesn't want many people knowing about his where abouts or contact information. I can explain things to you better later. I got your voice mail about 3 weeks ago. Sorry I didn't get back to you but now I'm sure you understand. Send me a txt sometime. When are you planning to come to Chicago? That way I can see what his schedule is like around the same time. Catch you then.

at least you will still have a W....

Are any FWD Impalas W-Bodies? and are the Montes still W-Bodies after their restyle in 2005(?)?

By the way, the Z34 looked AWESOME!! Sorry to hear you have to scrap it. Dang, dude. Were all your problems with the 3.4? I've seen 3.8s and heard of 5.0 engine swaps. Does that stop the nickel and diming?

That's badass. I'm surprised this site isn't chock full of those owners. Thanks for telling me because I'd like to print out those flyers...University of Akron campus has many decked out Montes to invite. Thanks again, Buck!

Sorry to hear that. THat is one sweet Z. The red int. is a nice touch.

Yeah, thanks! Trying to get rid of it but not for free. I had a guy contact me from craigslist.org but he thought my price was too high. Crap, I was charging him a few more bucks for what I paid for the headliner alone for all the pieces. I'd rather hang on to that stuff then just let it go. I got an empty attic.

Plannin on getting another Lumina??

I think I'm gonna give myself some time before I jump right back into things, but yes. This time though, it will be fully modified, even more than Christine. My son has had this Hot Wheel die cast car since he was about 3. It's a Lamborghini and he always said it looked like Christine, even since he was small. I'm gonna try to match the two tone paint job from it. I have all the exterior parts in mint condition for a Z34 too .

Or maybe skip the whole z34 all together, who knows. I'm gonna have to wait till I get reemployed and finally get my own house.

Ya'll be the first to know.

wow... reading this made me sad... i hate to see cars torn apart. It would kill me to let it go like that... but you have to do what you have to do i guess. The 2000's do suck though, just in general, not just the economy. But that Monte will be a nice car, have fun with it
