veesix
I have a 95 Monte Carlo Z34 and the tansmission lost 3rd gear. Now after spending $1700 for a trannie rebuild the car has no lock up. The transmission experts? have had the car for 8 days .the latest news is they have a valve body on order. The torque converter has been changed twice.my question is would a valve body cause this problem?
fleetwoodguy79
Could be, or they could've not hooked up the wiring on the tranny correctly. There is a solinoid on the tranny that makes the tq. converter lock up.
veesix
I just got back from the trannie shop. they put a valve body for a 96 Monte carlo .They said it now locks up and now the problem is it shifts hard between 1 and 2nd and it sometimes stays in lock up. Is there a difference between the 95 and the 96 4t60-e valve bodies.
PaPaPooh
thats funny that the lock up is ecm controled im not an expert by anymeans but i seriously dought the valve body would have anything to do with lock up i also seriously dought they hooked the silonied (sp?) up wrong it is a one way only plug my guess is that they used a shitty reman TC or never changed it and just flushed it what i would do is to ask to see the old TC's if they are not happt to show you they are being "shady" i also would get a different opinion it you get the car back and it does not lock out! most shopes will be happy to do a free dionogstic check for you to take back to the shop you have had it at thats what i would do! let us know how everything is! good luck!! veesix
I talked to the mechanic working on the car , i asked to see the scan tool he was using. the ecm was calling for tcc lockup but it is throwing a code 1640 .I've never heard of that?. He also said he changed the lockup solenoid . Thanks for your replies and I will let you know what the the final outcome is .
