93dakota
This was asked a few years ago, but no real answer was given. I am trying to find a front strut/knuckle assembly for my 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SL FE3 (with manual transmission). The local junkyard has one, but said it is for an FE2 and not FE3. I thought the only difference in the front was the spring rate and cartridge damping. Are the knuckles/hub plate, etc. different? Thanks, I need to get this back together. GutlessSupreme
I don't here of FE2 too much, but yea the only difference would be the spring/strut.
Crazy K
Identifying it byFE1/FE2/FE3 doesn't seem to matter to much, as I've seen the same spring used both in FE1 and FE3 cars. For the best results, find your RPO codes, which on an 89 are probably on the original trunk lid, and isolate the exact spring your car should have. READ: http://www.w-body.com/spring-codes.html the donor should have the same spring code. Alternatively... You could do the big front brake upgrade and get two new struts from a 96+ car, with a similar code to what you already have...
