LTZrocks
Hi, I saw these Springtech struts on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPRINGTECH-Shocks-Struts-MONTE-CARLO-LUMINA-97-98-99-ZZ_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem562f54b8cbQQitemZ370161268939QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories They are $170 for the set of four - sounds pretty decent I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with them yet and posssibly knows if they are any good and wether they really do fit as "A DIRECT BOLT ON" for my 1998 Lumina? Any information is greatly appreciated Thank you
Andrew
i personally have never heard of them, so i would stay away. If you go to RockAuto right now, you can get KYB's for your car for $160 !
tunerlover3
First of all there are no pics.............That should be a sign right there.
LTZrocks
I know that KYBs are great and I would definately rather buy those, but I can't. I'm using Eibach lowering springs and as far as I have heard, the KYBs blow pretty quickly when used with a drop of 1.5"+
xtremerevolution
and you figure some off brand will not blow out? fyi, i've got 20k on my kyb's with lowering springs as well. no problems here.
LTZrocks
Hi, I was thinking that since Springtech produce lowering springs themselves, then it would make sense that they produce struts which can handle the drop. Of course, I have no idea wether they actually optimized their struts to work with their springs - I'm just guessing, which is why I am searching for help on this forum. @xtremerevolution: which lowering springs do you use and how much drop? Thank you
tunerlover3
Ive also never heard of KYB's blowing out on lowered cars. Thats what most people choose when lowering their car. Springtech is just a ebay company.

LTZrocks
1998 Lumina is Gen 1.5 By how much did you lower your car? Did you convert your Regal to rear coils or do you have a monoleaf?
Andrew
he is still monoleafed. And he is right. The KYB GR2 issues are on the lowered 2nd gens.

Birchmount rear leaf, 4" drop over stock. Front is Energy Suspensions, which is a 2" drop over the Monte Carlo springs, or a 4" drop over the Regal springs. Not all w-bodies got the same springs, so to say you got an X" drop would be misleading. Here's a closer look at how low it is:
LTZrocks
Hi, thanks for the info - I didn't know that My Lumina has rear coils not monoleaf. So you think that I can use KYB's without trouble then? I dont want to take Monroe or Gabriel because they are more designed for comfort, rather than for performance. Delcos are pretty expensive and I'm not sure how they will handle.
1990lumina
KYB struts and shocks are terrible in cold weather. Suzuki's come factory with them and I replace struts all fucking winter on warranty lol. The seals fail and all the charge and oil leak out. Must be a Suzuki thing.
