GutlessSupreme
I finally got around to publishing most of the info I've gathered on the 282 over the past few years, but I'm still missing a lot. Please read the disclaimer on the top of the page: http://www.gtsdurango.net/w/5speed.html If you have any additional info to contribute (that can be verified or that you are absolutely sure of and have checked yourself), please send me a PM here. I'm trying to gather info on the 282 between all the years/car-lines, but even as far as Ws go, I have absolutely no info on the Quad 4 282 and how it was different from the V6 one. If you have pictures of different setups, those would be great too, specifically mounting, slave/clutch fork (or lack thereof) setups, starter locations, flywheel info (I know some cars had smaller diameter ones than ours). I know the page is a mess right now but as I gather definite info I can make more sense of it and organize it. I have a good number of part numbers laying around that I haven't posted yet, I'll work on getting those up soon. Thanks, Tony
Crazy K
quad 4 282: Uses the typical Q4 bellhouse half of the case, same as used on other cars such as the Beretta and Achieva, except it has the extension shaft mounted to that side of the case. whether or not there is an extension shaft (the one with the intermediate shaft enclosed) or just an open intermediate shaft the case half is the same. On a car without an enclosed extension shaft the mounting bosses for the extension shaft are not drilled and tapped. The positions for the seal exists whether is has the enclosed or open extension shaft. the drivers side of the case appears to be the same as a typical W-body 282 transmission
GutlessSupreme
Yea the case itself is probably the same. Where is the starter located on the Q4 W? Do you have any pics? I know you said a while back that you were gonna do the swap. I know some Berettas did have the intermediate shaft too, but it's supposed to be shorter, other than them and us I don't think any of the other bellhousings are tapped for it, but the mounting bosses do exist. Crazy K
it is sitting in the garage. and I am no longer doing this swap as the "jasper-ish" engine I had located was dropped and destroyed by the junkyard... "jasper-ish" as in it was a definite high quality rebuild from a car with very low miles... 69,000 IIRC... imagine looking at the bellhouse from the engine's postion. v6 starter is like in the 5 O'clock position. The Q4 starter is sort of in the 3 O'clock position, and is within the bellhouse. pics sometime....
