ss427
I finally got the alternator wiring figured out, and the car will now idle to operating temp and hold consistent voltage. The problem is that my volts while idling never get over 12, and I feel they should be around 14. I haven't checked output directly on the alternator, but should I try that tomorrow? The alternator is a reman'd NAPA unit and the car is a 92 Z34. ANybody experience this before?
crazyd
If you're running the A/C and rad. fans while idling, it will be low like this, especially if your grounds aren't so good. Check all the major electrical connections for corrosion and clean as necessary.
ss427
It was idling with no accessories on. This is what puzzled me. I will check all my connections again tomorrow. I just put a new engine in and cleaned everything really good, but perhaps I missed something.
