axisofjustice9c3
I let my car sit approximately three weeks, without touching it, with a very small amount of fuel, now it cranks and doesnt start. I have driven it very sparingly in the last six months or so, but enough that it always started right up, well after my truck got backed into I just kind of focused on the issue at hand and forgot about the Lumina for a few weeks. So Far: Tried jumper cables to see if battery was just too low Carb cleaner will start the car for a second until it burns up No fuel @ valve on rail on crank No Whine at prime Can't find a pump prime jumper Fuses are OK Relay was swapped with a/c compressor relay, no change Pulled negative cable for 20 min, no change HELP!!!!! Anyone got pics of a tank drop?

tornado_735
Does the Lumina have an access in the trunk like the GP?
tunerlover3
It should be the same as the Montes so no I dont think it does.
89SupremeCutty
no it doesn't have an access.
dodgethis
If you drop tank, take pictures of the event. I want to see and know what has to be taken off when one of us has to change fuel pump on the monte's and lumina's.
tunerlover3
Its not hard at all. I think it took my 40 minutes to get my tank down. I also had a lift during highschool auto though...
axisofjustice9c3
Dolt! I was hoping someone else had pictures and or a guide, the autozone guides are as specific as a deaf-mute instructional video. Oh well, I'll try and get pics. AVOID CHINESE FUEL PUMPS!!! check either rockauto or Advance Auto parts for a BOSCH brand fuel pump. It should cost less than $100 HOWEVER>>>>>> You need to find the fuel pump lead, which is a lonely red connector in the near vicinity fo the auxilary post, and try to jump the pump from there. digitaloutsider
Yeah, please buy at least the Bosch if you're not going to go AC Delco. The chinese ones are garbage. And what does he needs the test lead for?
tunerlover3
You need to buy the whole assembly. Yeah its expensive, but its better then replacing those little ebay pumps every couple months.
Crazy K
Yeah, please buy at least the Bosch if you're not going to go AC Delco. The chinese ones are garbage. And what does he needs the test lead for? just a power double check. you could also find the connector that goes to the tank, it should have four wires: purple: level sender return black w white stripe: ground for level sender gray: PUMP HOT black: GROUND FOR PUMP take a multimeter and do a continuity (OHM) check through the pump HOT and GROUND on the pigtail leading to the pump to see if it has continuity. also take a multimeter and do a check through the pump HOT and GROUND on the pigtail coming from the body to see if it has voltage when an assistant turns the key on. it should have for about 2 seconds, but you may have to wait 10 seconds between attempts if you miss the voltage on any prior attempt. You need to buy the whole assembly. Yeah its expensive, but its better then replacing those little ebay pumps every couple months. Not necessarily true. the pump is intended to be replaceable without replacing the assembly. the assembly needs to be replaced only if rusted, or if the fuel level sender is not working, though it can be cleaned to improve function if not broken. The absolute cheapest pump for a 98 lumina with 3800 is 270$. Will the one from a gpgt work? It's more like 100$ I can not find the test lead anywhere, I have dug through the rats nest of leftover police wiring, and cant find ANYTHING that resembles a red wire with a connector on the end. Anyone got a pic for comparison? I appreciate the help thus far guys.
xtremerevolution
Holy crap you're right. That sucker is $270 for the Delphi unit, and $440 for the Bosch unit. Honestly, if the GPGT pump won't work, your best bet will be to pull one from a junkyard car.
Crazy K
second pic in this thread shows the connector... http://www.w-body.com/forum/index.php?topic=80768.msg1099792#new and DAMN!!!! i would have thought it was the same pump.... Just kidding, it says made in usa, but has saudi arabia in the title. I spent an hour looking for the test lead and it is nowhere to be found...
