Engine has light surging at 3/4+ WOT on '95 Grand Prix. . . .

Breakdown

Recommended Posts

I haven't really let this bother me, I think that Amy might be shut down early this year. The why is that the rear brakes are about dead, and Amy traditionally ends the year in Novembuary (don't like spending on brakes if the car is going to be shut down immediately afterwards).

I'm also trying to decide whether to allocate funds to this car, and if so how much.

One nagging thing is this surging, it's extremely, extremely light, only when the pedal is down pretty good, and at high speeds. Idle is even and at regular RPM's.

I think that the last tune-up job was back in 2005 at latest potentially earlier. Thinking plugs or fuel filter would love a test drive if anyone local wants to give 'er a go, and let me know that they think. It's too light for you to notice in a video (even outside of youtube).

Thoughts?

Did you get the car scanned?

It's not throwing codes, but no it has not been scanned, it's a very light surge, my passengers can't even pick up on it.

Plugs, Wires, Fuel Filter... call it a day

Forgot to mention one thing (and yes I'm thinking the same).

This happens when I punch the engine around 80kph, NOT in the 0-65 kph range.

You have a plug wire starting to arc out slightly... The fast the speed, the more load. The higher the load on the engine the more you will notice a misfire.

Could be the trans slightly surging as well. But I would put my money on a good tuneup

Or just drive like a normal human being and dont go past 1/2 throttle

How would you merge on the freeway in a 3100 powered w-body then?
