Venom
And I came across this deal on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Oldsmobile-Cutlass-Sup-94-97-OE-Brake-Rotors-pads-F-R_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem1e576f3bf3QQitemZ130315926515QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Price seems too good to be true. I was leaning towards R1 rotors and ceramic pads which they have for $150+shipping for just the fronts (which was all I was shopping for anyways) $150 was really at the maximum of what Im looking to spend, but I also dont want to have to replace the rotors a few thousand miles down the road because I cheaped out on materials, which is why Im leaning away from the above posted auction. Any input you guys have is appreciated, thanks.

Any input you guys have is appreciated, thanks. That price is pushing it. I'd go with R1 rotors. I've installed over 10 pairs now and nobody's had absolutely any problems with them. I have another thread here proving that even with their crossdrilled and slotted rotors, a quality pad won't wear unevenly. Get a good ceramic pad, not some cheap crap that comes with the rotors. The pads are what can destroy your rotors more than anything else.
GOT2B GM
Buy a quality set of pads, and some China rotors. I'm just running cheap made in China Raybestos rotors from Rock Auto, and a premium pad from a local parts chain. Decent combination. Crazy K
I bought a full set of ZINC PLATED OEM rotors from R1 concepts, for $144 shipped... no pads included. zinc cause cleveland area is so rust nasty it simply ruins regular rotors, hence why the prior set had to be replaced. Buy one of the following: Bendix CT Ceramic Akebono Ceramic. Those will, I guarantee, blow you away, for a price that will be competitive with the cheap ceramic crap they sell at auto zone. Venom
Just went through RockAuto and I can get Akebono ceramics and Raybestos clearance rotors for less than $100 shipped. So now I just need to confirm I have 10.5in rotors (went outside with a tape measure and it sure looks like they are) and I should be good to go. I'm pretty sure 95 year cars had 11.25" front and 10.5" rear rotors.

Working from Conrads will give a fat discount on rotors. I think I bought my rears for $17 each through them and the standard Napa pads for $21... Just call them and say "This is Rob from Conrads here in Akron" and tell them what you need for YOUR car.. Tell them you will either pay with cash or your credit card. Yup, 95s could have either.. I would like to search more on them at the JY, im pretty sure I can narrow it down by build date rather than year and model.. Ive seen some 05/94 built 95s with the 10.5 and 95 build 95s with the larger. So at some point, there is a solid changover
Crazy K
yes, they could have had either. the fairxa built 95 has larer fronts, the doraville 95 had smaller fronts...
slick
I'd pay the extra for the zinc coating, helps keep the rotors looking good. However, as most expensive automobile makers will tell you (Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, etc...), there is absolutely None, zero, nothing, no benefit to crossdrilled or slotted rotors. In fact, they will also tell you that they reason that they do install them on there cars is that people expect to see them on there. You will only see the benefit of the fancy looking rotors if your doing some serious roadcourse racing/F1 racing, which from as far as I know, there is not a single person on here that competes. Even in a normal day to day driving situations, under heavy braking, vented rotors are more than sufficient.
hotrodolds
I disagree. The difference in fade and initial bite with the slotted rotors is quite noticable. I use a slotted rotor on the front of my Cutlass, and there is a HUGE difference. I agree with drilled or dimpled units, though.
hotrodolds
I use PowerSlot rotors, and Satisfied GS5 pads on the front, and CarQuest Gold pads with CarQuest plain rotors in the back.
Venom
My car was built in Fairfax and is a 6/95 car. Gonna rip off a wheel and see what size Im gonna need. 99screaminregal
Hey, just run up to Summit Racing and get their d&s rotors and a set of Hawk Perf. pads. I put that combo on my old 96 1500 and they stopped on a mustard seed. Awesome in my opinion
